Very disappointing from the new Prime Minister, very much sounding like the previous PM. These are among the world’s most vulnerable and desparate people. They need safe routes and humanity from responsible politicians, not grandstanding. This isn’t doing politics differently.

He was a humanist. He was a Goodie. Thank you, Bill, for everything. He died this week at the age of 85, and will be sorely missed. It was his request to have a humanist funeral. We love his song choices, too.

Lauren Edwards, who’s bringing back the assisted dying bill, has responded to Andy Burnham’s comments. She argues improving social and palliative care can go hand in hand with assisted dying as per some other nations. She also notes a 4 year implementation period for the bill.

A fine example of why the BBC should not publish vox-pops (“‘Bus fare cut is no good for those who drive’ says Durham man” is literally the headline here) without challenge or context. Buses, famously the preserve of the managerial classes.

It didn't "go rogue". It did what it was instructed to do. In a sophisticated way but nonetheless we have to stop assigning human agency to AI systems. Everything that happened here was as a result of human designed and instructed systems.
