THIS. SO MUCH THIS. I hate the nationalism argument for science funding. Science is global, and so is science funding. We need it everywhere. If the US stops, it’s not like other countries will now invest MORE.

Translation: we'd like to be sure we have the authority to reward our political allies in red states, sidestep universities, and make sure women and minorities are excluded as much as possible. 🧪
