I feel like I encounter this dynamic - not only have we stopped pursuing long, open-ended searches, we're also losing the spaces, infrastructures, and knowledge architectures in which they happen.

people are not ready for the fact a computer has vastly superior reasoning skills to humans, and the militant insistence that AI can’t reason is either consciously or unconsciously a fear response we made something vastly “smarter” than ourselves and we can’t fully control or understand it anymore
