i’m uncomfortable that @timfduffy.com’s face is no longer as close to the frame as it once was

jesus this hank green ai drama is so sad and bleak, the dude is using AI in extremely sane and safe and reasonable ways, and so many of his fans are just on a purity crusade over it here’s a recent reddit post and hank’s reply
dameit’s worse than i thought… Hank’s audience merely heard him use a phrase in a video they thought *sounded* like AI, but it was just him adlibbing after viewers pointed it out, he clarified it wasn’t an AI line, but explained that he does use AI in the research process! then the pile on begin bleak
i think it’s a very bad thing that AI usage has become so stigmatized and misunderstood by a militant part of the left that they are now conducting harassment campaigns and witch-hunt like dynamics towards their own allies

uh oh, Hank Green’s fans finally caught on to the fact he was using AI in his process and for the web apps he’d been making… apparently he over-relied on it for a recent video and it kinda spiraled out from there? sad stuff, he’s probably gonna get an extremely disproportional backlash
i deal with some real creeps, weirdos, and losers on bluesky — here’s someone replying to my thread about protocol data and describing my stance as “rape culture” lol
damehard pill to swallow for atproto developers/creators: 99% of potential users either do not care about, value, understand, or want to “own their own data” i see so many apps/projects lead with this “value prop”, but it’s not an important or meaningful consideration for most people
1. ken jennings is being incredibly mean and stupid here 2. shaming people for playing the NYT word games is not an effective means of combatting transphobia, it’s more likely to hurt the cause than help it… it’s misguided 3. ken jennings is being incredibly mean and stupid here
Ken JenningsThis may be true of others but I actually got express permission from the trans community to keep NYT games and recipes. I also have a news subscription, which is arguably worse, so I had to specifically send in a written request. Took 30 days but I got approved.
