Embracing Mediterranean life means adaptation measures - mechanical ventilation, massive natural and built shade solutions, the creation of outdoor swimming facilities. and I think you and your fossil fuel mates should be paying for them, Allister, since you're so keen on throwing in the towel.

Because a couple of Telegraph columnists had the temerity to break rank and suggest that maybe climate change might be a problem that demands some sort of credible response.

And as @leohickman.carbonbrief.org rightly points out, Badenoch says 'climate change is real', but a year after saying she would drop net zero targets she still hasn't explained what she would do about it instead.

That's what she means, but she is clearly referring to 'net zero plans' when she says they are leading to higher emissions. It's at best opaque.

But North Sea drilling is not the sole focus of the UK's net zero plans. To suggest the UK's net zero plans overall are leading to higher emissions is really misleading. They don't even technically necessitate an end to North Sea drilling if you can find other credible ways to reach net zero.

What Badenoch is trying to say, as was the case in her similarly mangled recent BBC interview, is if net zero means less UK fossil fuel production it could lead to more imported fossil fuels that have a marginally higher carbon footprint.
