📑Andy Burnham has a devolution plan. But over a quarter of England still isn't covered by a mayor. IPPR North has spent 20+ years pushing for regional power. Now is the time we could see these benefits realised - for the whole country. Find out how👇 www.ippr.org/articles/on-...

On home ground: The future of devolution | IPPRThe Labour government has made an impressive start on devolution. More places have devolved powers to deliver on their regions’ priorities, more mayors havwww.ippr.org

Our research with @ipprscotland.bsky.social +@fifegingerbread.bsky.social shows around 210k children could be lifted out of poverty if children received the child maintenance they're entitled to. The question now is when action will follow. Our full response: opfs.org.uk/get-involved...

The Scottish budget isn't under pressure due to excessive generosity in benefits. Scotland's population continues to get older, and that's an issue we can't hide away from. Was on BBC Radio Scotland speaking about this a couple of weeks ago.

Fascinating insights in our latest blog by @davehawkey.bsky.social - the Holyrood election produced a 7th parliament very similar to the 6th. However, voter turnout was much reduced, and frustration among voters heightened - politicians need to ponder what needs to change before the next election.

After a lethargic campaign, a new @ipprscotland.bsky.social blog from @davehawkey.bsky.social reflects on the outcome and pre-election polling showing Scottish voters prefer a government reflecting their values over one focused on resolving issues in day-to-day life. www.ippr.org/articles/con...

Offord on the telly again talking about getting '800,000 economically inactive people back to work'. High time journalists start properly interrogating this abject nonsense. bsky.app/profile/step...

Stephen Boyd

Memo to messrs Offord and Findlay. Of the 790k people in Scotland who are currently economically inactive: 122k are retired 185k are students 124k are looking after family 267k are long-term sick The idea that '800k inactive people' are choosing not to work to live a life on benefits is ludicrous

Cutting public sector jobs when public services are already stretched risks real harm, to services and those most reliant on them. Moving towards a preventative public service provision model will require more investment over the next parliament, not less! Important new report by IPPR Scotland.

IPPR Scotland

⚠️ Scotland could be sleepwalking into austerity ⚠️ 🔴Our new analysis warns looming public sector job cuts could hollow out essential services just as demand rises. 📢The choices made now will shape Scotland’s public services for years. Read the report ⤵️ www.ippr.org/articles/mor...
