I’d suggest a really significant change of attitude is required when it comes to selling off access to our resources to privatised companies and multinationals. Much more recognition of the very real conflicts of interest is required.

Lessons need to urgently be learned from what went so wrong with ScotWind. That only starts when government admits it made clear errors that shouldn’t be repeated. The obvious ones here are absence of binding agreements over the Scottish supply chain investment by operators.

Sturgeon, Swinney, Forbes, Yousaf and most other major SNP politician of recent years adamantly defended ScotWind. In the mean time, manufacturing and oil and gas job losses have ratcheted up without the promised wind supply chain benefits.

ScotWind should be seen as a defining failure of successive SNP administrations (and Green supporters) who insisted it would be formative to Scotland’s reindustrialisation. Reports of £6 billion less activity than expected is only the latest confirmation.
