What blows my mind with AI is the people who are like "how could you possibly function without it?" To which I say, "you, YOU literally did until what like 3 years ago? Did it degrade your brain that fast that you can't figure out how to do the thing you trained for years and earned a PhD to do?"

I really enjoyed the thoughtfulness of this. they are not saying don’t watch or ‘action movie BAD!’ —nice critique in the literary way. I’m a literary history PhD. Do you know how many critiques of Dickens I’ve written? And I love Dickens, even at his worst. Criticism can be enlightening and fun.

I tried to read it twice earlier and the site was down, but I saw her summary of points thread. I think in those she has some totally solid critiques as a Classicist that I disagree with as a film scholar. I agree with her on critiques of Nolan films more widely, but disagree about the casting here

I actually earnestly love that everyone's talking about The Odyssey & translations & adaptations & cinema, & talking about the ways in which we discuss those things; I love seeing thoughtful people thinking together in public, building on each other's knowledge & perspectives! however,

I keep missing the stage show for various unfortunate situations each time, but the soundtrack is incredible. It's the only musical I've listened to without having seen, and I've listened to it a lot.
