1. I am of partly Sami descent. I hasten to add that I am not Sami, and am only learning about their culture as an adult. I know enough to say that the English language movie "Path Finder" is incredibly loosely based on the Sami legend of the same name, and it is a bunch of white savior nonsense.

Shopping for, and cooking your own food is a basic life skill that not everyone gets to learn at home. It should be taught in school. It isn't just a nice to have skill set either. It's essential. It makes getting tasty, nutritious food in your diet much less expensive. It's also a lot of fun.

It was a hot Summer night menu tonight. Cool, leafy, green salad, and gazpacho with garnishes, EVOO, and crusty bread. We live in a small urban apartment, and our closet kitchen quickly turns into a Hell closet on hot days. So, it's chilled dinners for parts of Summer. We are lucky we can stay cool.
