In the 80s Billy Bragg Sang about not wanting a new England...(spoiler: he was just looking for another girl). Burnhams plans for a New England, are radical but also very European, with cantonal style taxes. Here's the proposed English unitary local authorities borders. lgr.devcomms.co.uk 1/2

Today I discovered that a letter attributed to a man was actually written by Ann Bathurst, the 17th-century visionary woman I’m researching. 🤩 Archival work might be slow and painstaking but it’s totally thrilling to be going in search of lost voices from the past and finding them! 📚

GylesNaMopaleenHow do you know if you're talking to AI or looking at AI-generated content? From 2nd August 2026, new transparency measures under the EU AI Act mean you'll start seeing clearer signs when AI is involved. The goal is simple: more transparency, so you know when AI is involved. 1/2

the new EU AI act (effective from yesterday) requires AI gen content makers to include technical markets depicting them as fake.
GylesNaMopaleenParts of the new EU AI act, effective from August 1st, are interesting. Article 50 covers Providers of generative AI who must ensure output (images, audio, video, text) contain technical markers making them detectable as artificial (Link in ALT) 1/3
Spain clearly controls entry into the Schengen area from Africa. Almost everyone who entered Ceuta has returned. They would not have been eligible for regularisation anyway. Take your profound ignorance elsewhere.
Piñín♾️ ... que de Piñón "ye" sobrínSpain could control entry to the Schengen area from Africa but it doesn't. The ailing government in Madrid has just granted EU residency to 600,000+ undocumented migrants. This pull factor together with Spain's incompetent border control strategies have led to a very dangerous situation in #Ceuta.
Correcting bullshit about EU immigration law
Of course it matters, because Spain can and does control entry from Ceuta to the Spanish mainland and therefore the Schengen area. My replies are not a forum for bullshit about immigration.
museevirtuelIt doesn't matter at all that Ceuta isn't located on the Iberian peninsula - all that can be said is that its location makes it easier to enter illegally. It's part of Spain. Un país sin fronteras no es un país.
Agreed there Is a strong case for a written UK constitution, but it has to be accompanied by other measures to strengthen our democracy, particularly electoral reform. #FairVotes www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

I'm not qualified to judge whether such people are psychopaths. All I can say is that they behave as if they are. From today's Telegraph.
Quick 🧵on yesterdays FT Piece by @martinsandbu.ft.com (link in ALT) TL;DR: The EU27 already (reluctantly) agreed to a softer brexit deal with the UK in 2019. That was not a trivial thing for EU27 to agree to - it meant it was possible to leave the EU but still access parts of the SM. 1/7
the UK got the wrong Mayor as PM.
Burnham mustn’t let talk of a return to two party politics (very unlikely) persuade him to abandon his support for electoral reform. He must set up a commission to determine the best form of PR for the UK and deliver its report within a year. It’s time! www.politicshome.com/opinion/arti...
Terrifying to see wildfires raging through Scotland. The climate crisis isn't a distant threat - it's right here and right now. How many warning signs and alarm bells until Andy Burnham takes action to end oil and gas drilling?
