I think the joke is that the employees think Father will punish them for not working or will supervise them more closely but then he just wants to celebrate and do his best to support the war effort alongside them

Btw, people are correct to point out that there's nothing corroborating this, but someone I trust saw the actual list on the SDCC website before they took it down, so I'm pretty sure it's accurate.
