Btw, people are correct to point out that there's nothing corroborating this, but someone I trust saw the actual list on the SDCC website before they took it down, so I'm pretty sure it's accurate.
I think this is one of the reasons there is a separate Hall of Fame committee, who put a bunch of people in every year. It seems when it comes to voting, today's professionals tend to vote for creators they know that are still actively making comics.
I'm not suggesting they don't deserve to be in
there, just that creators from a different era get overlooked. The Eisner's used to cap the number of creators per year to 4. I suspect that was due to time constraints as the awards already go over 2 hours which people grumble about. It has lead to a lot of worthy people not being in HOF yet.
