It blows my mind after 2 Trump victories and his complete reshaping of the GOP that Democratic leadership still believes that the path to electoral success is chasing the mythical median voter. Stop following and lead.

The mere fact that Trump and other Republicans will use DSA success as a line of attack is wholly insufficient to support rejecting them. That dynamic is one of the reasons voter enthusiasm for mainstream Democrats is low. Democrats need to stand for something besides milquetoast appeasement.

For this argument to be persuasive, you have to believe bad faith Republican attacks calling DSAs "communists" are more effective than bad faith Republican attacks calling Democrats "communists." And that such a difference is greater than frustration by voters with Democrats.

As a Democratic Socialist, we are not the same as Socialists. We like democracy but think our taxes should go toward building a more equitable life for everyone. This position is the default center for most of the developed world. Again, we are not socialists. Stop equating the two.

Definitely not true. Muslims Americans were too polite to share some of the horrors that became daily living for them post-911. My young male South Asian muslim students faced constant harassment for doing things like standing around outside talking with their friends or taking a picture.
