Trump really thinks that by this sheer force of his personality and telling his voters that there’s nothing to be alarmed about that they won’t care about higher prices from tariffs, will accept them to support him, etc. Either that or he is completely economically illiterate, or just lying.

He has a supernatural ability to actually explain to people what city government does, and could do if it were competently run in the interest of ordinary folks instead of Rich apartment owners and financial elites.

I saw Buddy Guy perform at his club in Chicago about 30 years ago on a snowy winter night. At some point, he disappeared during a song. He had slipped out the side door and was playing by himself, god tier blues guitar, on the sidewalk, in a snowstorm. I can still remember how it felt to hear him.

He really does seem to be better at this than any politician in recent US history. “ hey, let me tell you about this really simple but common sense thing that I did that’s going to make the lives of New Yorkers much easier!”

Democratic Party leaders will absolutely choose incompetence and humiliating defeat or collaboration with Trumpism rather than accommodate or encourage their activist base who actually want to fight and win. Every. Single. Time. These folks must be driven from power and from public life.

It might seem right now like accountability for the many crimes of the Trump administration will never come. But we can make sure that justice has a long memory.

I actually am flattered that some of the most powerful politicians in the country are taking time out of their busy days to send me a personal text message. Unless they’re generated by some computer program in which case they can all go to hell.
