Discovery of the day: a hornet nest next to my electric meter. It’s far enough from my doors that the wasps haven’t gotten aggressive towards me, though I do wonder if my utility company will object. It’s late enough in the hornets’ seasonal cycle that I’m tempted to leave it be(e).

There is a lot that the social internet is Not Great for. But watching people be earnestly enthusiastic about stuff, even stuff I would otherwise not particularly care about, is great. I am here in no small part to watch people geek out about stuff they love.
