This part is key. The idea we can outlast Trump is foolish. 1. There are many vile people waiting to take Trump's place. 2. Republicans will rig elections. Dems may not regain control for years. 3. Dems are anti-Canada on trade, just not as much. 4. Many Dems also believe in Manifest Destiny.

Exactly. There are plenty of Dems audaciously lecturing Canadians about our boycotts hurting their states. No real empathy for our plight, just the consequences that effect them.
