This part is key. The idea we can outlast Trump is foolish. 1. There are many vile people waiting to take Trump's place. 2. Republicans will rig elections. Dems may not regain control for years. 3. Dems are anti-Canada on trade, just not as much. 4. Many Dems also believe in Manifest Destiny.

That's good news. However, if the goal is actually 100,000 additional tradespeople, doubling the figure to 200,000, you'd think they'd state that clearly. I'm guessing that's not the plan. But I'd be happy to be proven incorrect by the Fed gov't.

The two big exceptions to this are automobiles and lumber. While American consumers pay the tariffs, the auto and lumber industries in Canada are heavily reliant on shipping to the US. In Ontario, automakers have received subsidies to stay afloat. Here in BC, many lumber mills have shut down.
