(Special mention to the blackfly and midgies of Mývatn in Iceland. I'm from the West of Scotland and I thought our midgies were bad but Mývatn is so bad they named the loch after it)

Sometimes I miss being a field archaeologist, but then I see photos like this and get flashbacks to drawing graves while midgies devour my eyelids and I think maybe the office isn't so bad.

Thank you so much for using "lidar" and not "LiDAR"!

I'm tangentially involved in some legally fairly serious documentation projects where it's been suggested we should be taking images on film as well as digitally...

They just don't give a shit. It's infuriating.

010

I mean, it's one thing to abandon the "don't be evil" credo, but somehow just not giving a shit is worse?

Enough with the corny puns

000

Yes- that was a new one on me too

Thanks! That was an interesting read.

It could be a great film.

I'm sure I read something on here arguing that his rages were part of the performance but I can't find it because when I search for McGonagall all I get is Harry Potter nonsense. @asls.org.uk might be able to help? They have a few useful bits of context as well: bsky.app/profile/asls...

The Dragon and George on King St in Glasgow had this in the window for so long the box was faded. I always kinda wanted it but never had enough money. The shop is long gone: beardedquail.blogspot.com/2015/04/the-...

Or at least the air marshals?

I'm never entirely sure if McGonagall was genuine or doing a bit or not. A good film could have fun with that ambiguity.

Not much evidence that I'm aware of.

000

Indeed- we've got a few good sites in Denmark as well.

I've long argued they couldn't have plied the waters around between the Northern Isles and Hebredies without good boats and nous. The same must have been true around the Doggerland archipelago before, during and after its inundation.

If they're accustomed to trådhegn you can easily fool them with some sticks and string.

This is definitionally false colour.
