We often feel so paranoid. When we moved and told people it was because of the guns it felt like an overreaction. Within 3yrs my hometown & nearest city had school shootings. Seattle is now our closest US city and it's heartbreaking. Good luck to you. The peace of mind is worth all the struggle.

Would assume everyone knows it by now, but just in case "First the traitors, then the invaders" is an explicit reference to The Turner Diaries, where a white supremacist revolution overruns "The System" and kills all their enemy during the evocatively named "Day of the Rope".

Last year, Vance Boelter shot and killed a Democratic state rep and her husband. He was sentenced this week to consecutive life sentences. Maybe now’s a good time for some accountability for the Republicans who peddled disgusting conspiracy theories about the slayings?

Thank you so much for that. It's been a lot harder than I had anticipated and it's difficult to explain to a lot of our family. The kids miss home and we often just feel paranoid. We were thinking of planning a family trip to Seattle just before school starts but, well.

Doesn't seem ridiculous AT ALL People would sometimes treat us like refugees and it took awhile to accept how completely foreign this kind of thing is here and how our move was viewed as escaping.

Seattle is now our nearest city and this is so painful from up here. Can only imagine how much people are hurting there.

When we moved and people asked why we left it felt silly to say "the guns". Within the next three years my hometown and then our adopted city both had school shootings. It's crippling for communities and no one really recovers.

It's just devastating. I'm in tears here and hating this so much for everyone. No one deserves this.
