Weird that people aren't noticing that these dipshits are doing this because it is not just a captive audience, but one where every institution on the plane will protect *them* and not a heckler. They know that you know that an air marshall will attack you for telling them to shut the fuck up.
Hemant MehtaEvangelist Whitney Lynn says she preaches on planes because she loves “a captive audience.” She's not alone. It's becoming a trend. If spreading your message requires listeners who can't escape, maybe it's not as compelling as you think. www.friendlyatheist.com/p/christian-...

Hmmmm. Wonder if he knows more about this than random posters who have never been to Kentucky
Aaron RuparBeshear: "There's an argument that August 3 is a date where I could not later call a special. Those that are really pushing this are under the impression a Dem might be able to win. It's been since '92 that we had a Dem senator in KY ... not having McConnell show up isn't necessarily a bad thing"

the amount of times a number traces back to a guesstimate, and then has usually undergone distortion along the way. for instance, the sports industry, when arguing for legalization of gambling, used a figure that ended up getting quoted repeatedly in the Supreme Court hearings ...
Josh LandauSeriously. There are so many well-known "facts" out there that are actually just someone's guesstimate that got accepted and over time became truth. Not to mention the plague of misattributed quotes out there.

So, once upon a time, I was doing a deep dive into what Christian seminary textbooks say about Jews, and I started trying to figure out where the assertion that 1st-century Jews hated shepherds came from. (Cited in peer-reviewed papers!) Traced it to its source: an 1800s guy just made it up.

I worked at Disney a while ago. Do you know why theme parks are so safe? Because OOSHA reps can walk the track on any ride at any time and any safety violation they see is a $10,000 fine. Each. Theme parks are not safe because the company cares. They're safe because it's cheaper to comply.
Jon of The NorthTurns out that food companies were only checking their food because the government told them to, which is exactly why we need government regulations.
