If current trajectories of AI development continue, it is highly plausible that AI will drastically transform our economies. We must make collective, democratic choices, rather than letting market forces play out and risking leaving most citizens behind. digitaleconomy.stanford.edu/news/wemusta...

If leading AI companies are indeed approaching the point of recursive self-improvement, a coordinated, verifiable, and universally applied pause is probably the only responsible solution to mitigate several major AI risks; at least until safety guarantees are developed and demonstrated. (1/2)

Great collaboration with the lab of Edouard Bertrand, with important contributions from Benoît Lelandais, Marie-Cécile Robert, Michael Szalay, and Jean-Yves Tinevez. Thanks a lot to all. www.nature.com/articles/s41... (4/4)
Tracking the 3D motion of loop anchors in multiple genomic regions, we confirm that TADs are highly dynamic. Our analyses indicate that TADs constantly fold into multiple extruding loops that bring anchors briefly together ~1x per hour, effectively shrinking their genomic distance by ~0.1 kb/s.(2/4)
Recently out: “Uniform dynamics of cohesin-mediated loop extrusion in living human cells”. In this study led by brilliant former PhD student Thomas Sabaté we use live cell microscopy and polymer simulations to characterize how DNA loops and TADs form in human cells by cohesin-driven extrusion.
