The fig trees in our backyard are full of fruit and they’re almost ripe! But it turns out the local raccoons don’t care about the perfect level of ripeness, they spent most of last night grabbing figs and breaking branches! 😭

That happens in our neighbourhood too! Whenever a coyote passes through, a bunch of crows flow them, yelling.

There is a real sense that they were supposed to be grateful the pandemic was “over,” but all of these things in their lives were worse than before. And now, the way things got worse feels unspeakably permanent.

If I were to sum up these conversations in a single sentiment, a lot of them boil down to: “I need help with something and I can’t even imagine trying to get it. I feel like I’m the only one who would care.”

Things have been so busy lately that I haven’t taken a day off in months, but I did today! We drove over the Cascade Mountains to visit some fruit orchards and got freshly-picked peaches and pluots! It was Josephine’s first road trip and I think she did pretty well!

i hate how much people care about their ships being "canon" now. spirk fans didn't publish zines full of fanfics in the 70s only for modern fandom to grovel at the knees of corporations and beg for things to be canon. use your imaginations, don't allow billionaires to think for you.
