I never said the SC wasn't a fallback. I said that they are scared of losing in a free and fair election. Which is why they are doing what they are doing and trying to do it so quickly. They are in fact scared of losing, which is why they need to cheat at ever turn.

Haley Stevens has benefited from nearly $60 million in outside spending (about 1/2 from AIPAC alone). Given that those outside groups are mostly supporting her because of positions she shares with Mike Rogers, that $$$ will dry up in the general. If she wins the primary, Dems lose the general.
