Seriously ffXVI is the only one that has their main characters as late 20s and 30s. The next oldest are probably the FF7 gang who range wildly in age, but cloud is only 21.
And if you argue Terra is the main character then she’s 18 too.
I honestly am not sure how to count Clive because he’s got two time skips with three wildly different age ranges, but the game starts with him at his second age of 28 before going back to his teenaged years in the flashback.
I think if there's a "main character" of FFVI, it's definitely Terra. She's in the title art, the entire plot kicks off with her mission to secure an Esper.
this is a defensible position but also getting into a discussion about who the main character of ffvi is on the internet is one of the classic blunders
just surprised Celes is supposed to be the same age as Terra; thought she was supposed to have *some* experience and not be another child soldier
It's 100% an ensemble cast with varying degree of focus on differing protagonists. There's not a lot of narrative built around Mog or Umaro or Gogo, obviously; meanwhile Terra, Locke, Celes, the Figaro Twins, etc all have extensive story arcs.
Celes being basically a child soldier *is* weird.
Cid says that she was transformed into a Magitek Knight "very young", and *then* she rapidly rose through the ranks to become an 18 year old *General* which is insane.
Just another way the Gestahlian Empire sucks.
He was just a lonely kid when he left home to join the army, flunked out of the program he told everyone he was gonna master, forced to watch his home and loved ones be cut down in front of him, and then he got tortured and experimented on for five years.
Jesus this man needs a hug.
It's been a long standing theory that since he's unsent and they take forms based on what they perceive themselves as... It's a 25 year old imagining himself as a 35 years old which tracks.
I literally just cosplayed auron at a con. And while I don’t know if the materials I used were game accurate entirely, I’ll say right now the arm position actually works quite well with the way he uses his sword. Rests the offhand while keeping it in position for when he needs to go two handed
