This warms my heart. 😍 My Vinny, is 17yrs old, and now totally deaf. I 'talk' to him thru our own sign language; for bedtime, outside, go bye-bye, food/water and no more snackies for you! They can learn and so can we!

Great job Glad there are dog lovers who are willing to take a chance with a dog who is deaf. It's a challenge but worth it. My dog Munchie was deaf also but used her other senses to overcome it.

This is one of many reasons it sucks to be a permanent renter I'd LOVE to go to a shelter and say give me whoever has been here the longest and take em home. Doesn't matter why they've been there that long But either you're paying hundreds in "pet rent" and double deposit or they aren't allowed

We had a deaf Great Dane she was a great dog. To help us we had a trainer with experience training deaf dogs come to our house & train our entire family how to work & train her.

I have neighbors who adopted a deaf dog (puppy-mill dangerously inbred Aussie, deaf and nearly blind.) It's not easy to raise a sensory-disabled dog and whoever crossed the pittie w/a Husky and thought, OH, blue-eyed dog, KEWL--should not be allowed to own an intact dog. "designer" dogs are not

Breeding 2 merle coated dogs creates a double-merle mutation, almost always leading to the offspring being deaf. I had one, he was a sweetheart. But bad breeders need to stop.

I foster and Fail Foster dogs all the time. I usually give them two weeks to just get comfortable and then a few months to adjust. We don't know what they went through or what may trigger them so I like to take it slow. If they move through trauma faster, that's okay too.
