The real story isn't that government capture is new. For years, policy decisions, lobbying & appointments reflected the interests of a wealthy elite rather than the broader public & less a revelation than a mainstream acknowledgement of a longstanding reality, confirming why they buy up that media.

House of Lords is currently in full bloom, for almost 400 years. There have been many bud-nipping attempts in the past, but Brits do love their "heritage".
