At what point will Democrats hit on the idea that he should be removed from office, of gently suggesting to the public that we don’t have to wait till 2029 to end this chaos and misery?

Ergo time for Trump to post that his poll numbers are higher than ever.

Ответ для David Steuer

Or bomb China.

It seems 28 percent are a lost cause

I will breath a lot easier when it’s below 25. For now the whole MAGA cult is still under the spell.

Midterms are looking better and better.

His numbers are still too damn high.

Keep up the piss-poor work for America

I think the mullahs are holding out for 29%...

I wish polls like this would report % of respondents identifying with each party. Party membership isn’t immutable and I’d expect some Trump disapprovers to switch from Rep to Ind.

Let’s hope these people vote

Sure begs the question if we just might see the 20s.

... I'd be happy at like 24... that would make me feel like that was the appropriate number of stupid people the country has ...

That was Nixon's approval a few days before he resigned.

Thirty-two percent after all the lies, chaos, corruption, reckless wars, and nonstop grievance politics is still embarrassingly high. Trump has spent years humiliating the country, and a third of voters are still cheering. What exactly would finally break the spell?

Suppose the answer is nothing. How much does that matter? Yes it's awful but they don't have enough to win federal elections. It would be good to have 2/3 of the Senate and 38 states so it matters there. It's hard to see true independents going back to the Cons for a generation.

(To be fair I also didn't expect COVID-19 to be forgotten and/or Joe Biden to retroactively be made the alleged president in 2020, so I've certainly had to recalibrate all my expectations.)

Deep cut!

These are numbers that would lead to Democrats controlling the Senate and taking the House with >240 seats

Ответ для Mitchell Epner

Replace "would" with "should." There will be lots of vote suppression and outright rigging going on.

Ответ для JJKettlewell

The GOP are going to get the doors blown off in November, and they know it.

Ответ для JJKettlewell

Yep Trump is going to pull out all the stops to rig this election. I'm not pessimistic but I just know what he's up to.

Ответ для JJKettlewell

attempts at suppression, yes Rigging is INCREDIBLY difficult to do at any scale in the US because of how decentralized our system is. I won't say impossible, but pretty close.

Still that high, is it?

28% of Americans approve* of pancreatic cancer. *Made-up but seemingly plausible statistic

Ответ для Alex Merz 🇺🇸🇨🇦🇺🇦

Yeah they approve of it because it will only happen to unhealthy people and not to *them*.

The absolute horror about this country is that it is still that high.

And the economy hasn’t cratered yet. I believe this was Bush territory in early 2008. For reference, Bush was higher at this point in 2006 than Trump right now. The famous Rove math year.

I think W may have been lower during the height of the financial crisis. But my god! Why isn't THIS the biggest political story right now? The usual caveat-the rural diner folks are still with him-is belied by the story itself! Only reasonable explanation is media are scared and fully captured.

I do want to talk to the three percent of Democrats who are like, "Hey, I was skeptical, but you know what? Things are going really well. I was wrong about this guy."

Ответ для Andrew Bare

... This could just be people that have had voter registration for 20 or 30 years and have never changed it...

Whoa. Below the theoretical 33% floor.

Let’s get this SOB below Nixon as he’s way worse.

Biden never sniffed anything close to this and it took about three years to get in 38-43 range. Trump did this in a yr and a half.

Nixon got down to around 25% IIRC and we know what happened to him.

Getting close to the crazyfication factor.

what is the opposite of coattails? cement shoes?

Ответ для Ben Abrahamse

cement tails

That 3% of self-described democrats approve of the job trump is doing is just plain wild.

Really close to the 27% crazification factor floor kfmonkey.blogspot.com/2005/10/lunc...

Going to be a fun fall campaign for a lot of Republicans when they have to actually go home and face their constituents. I'm very bullish on the Senate. I can see 52-53. NC, ME, OH, TX, IA, AK, and I think one more may come into play out of nowhere in October. 2006 vibes.

Ответ для Luckybastard77

I've got a lot of second-guessing and risk-aversion. But it's not hard to see them just getting crushed. As you suggest, GOPs just haven't gone out in the wild much in the last year. They're as eager to go to townhalls as open air drug markets. First contact with the actual electorate may be rough.

Ответ для Josh Marshall

I'm as excited as anyone for the electoral results, and everything seems to be trending in the right direction, but my representative, from CA-19, said "bipartisan" again this week, which makes me concerned that Democrats, while benefitting from that contact, may not gauge it correctly either.

Ответ для Josh Marshall

Probably much more enthusiastic mingling in the open air drug markets.

Ответ для stillfischer

I was thinking the same hahaha

Ответ для Josh Marshall

I just saw the Fox News polls. If those Ga and NC are in the ballpark. That 52-53 is very doable.

Shades of Joni Ernst telling the town hall audience we are all going to die…the GOP doesn’t have much that is positive to campaign on. And we see how that went for Joni.

Continues to bless indies... Me likey.

Oof, look at those differences. Folks who (are still brave enough to) identify as “pedophilicans” seem to FINALLY be hopping off the bandwagon, and in pretty startling numbers. We’re talking double the previous month in disapprove & decline to respond?

Richard Simmons Shocked ReactionALT: Richard Simmons Shocked Reactionstatic.klipy.com

Still too high for reason. A healthy electorate would have him at 20 to 25%

GOP still 76% pure stupid

The large increase in the number of Republicans who don't want to offer an opinion is pretty funny.

Ответ для Stephen Perry

Isn't that a pattern? The number of I don't know's or no opinion goes up and then some of them move in the next month or two to negative. Cognitive dissonance is a hell of a drug.

Hoping this is a new floor vs just a wiggle. The midterm strategy seems to be to rally the most faithful MAGAs while suppressing the anti-MAGA vote by any means. Hard to make this work if there aren't enough faithful MAGAs left.

The Mason-Dixon Line

24% of republicans won't say Trump is doing a good job? Ruh roh

Here’s a poli sci question: I feel that in most democratic countries, any approval rating this low or disapproval this high would result in a resignation, or at least a lot of intraparty pressure to resign, but not Trump. Is that just because he’s cultivated so much power and obedience from them?

If they're watching Fox News, or CBS State Media, they'll learn that "It's Biden's fault," because blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I'm about ready to retire, and I can't believe that many of my contemporaries are this fucking stupid. And seriously, I'm no brain trust.

Impeachment territory
