Absolutely No One Should Go Without Food…. “Food isn’t a human right.” Holy crap, then why did we even bother developing agriculture and civilization? Are we really making enough food for everyone just to let some people starve?”

“we developed agriculture for profit” - sociopathic magas

No we have to throw out the stuff that people can’t afford to buy duh

We have become a nation of egos who want to give nothing to a solitary soul.

If these damned people can't "make a buck" on the product, they'll sooner destroy it than see it go to good use... pathetic excuses for humans !

And a basic human right to access good and nutritious food! Poverty shouldn't relegate people to crappy food options.

They are nazis and they want your gold teeth and jewelry before they burn you to death with the heat of 1000 data centers.

I know the guttural pain. As a child victim of the NYS foster abuse and pedophile system, I was starved and that was the least traumatic of all of it.

NAW there are idiots who spout this shit to justify their own selfishness.

Well Elon Musk needed’ to become a trillionaire and he couldn’t have gotten there without our tax dollars. So programs had to be eliminated to foster the 1%s greed. The 1% see everything in the USA as something for them to capitalize on. Stop the greedy 1% and end Citizens United to save America!

It was so the sick people could make all the money in the world 🌍 and exercise their power.

Agreed. Refusing to help our neighbor isn't a strength, it's a sign of weakness.

Looks like. You know that our farmers got paid to grow for USAID. Now they don't.

Yes

currently Just under 3 Billion People live in a world where they don't have access to proper nutrition...number of Hungry people is rapidly approaching a Billion...world food supplies are short & due to get shorter " Looks like Soylent Green is back on the Menu Boys" www.youtube.com/watch?v=lco9...

Funny /did not know anyone else remembers that movie

So you’re born on this planet, which is full of food but you can’t have any unless you pay for it. You can’t even live on 10 ft.² of land without paying someone for it.

👍 But if someone can make $$$ off of someone else’s misery, greedy buggers will try!

l live 2 buildings over from a homeless shelter in Langley, BC and today someone placed a box of blueberries beside a fence where a poor person might find it. Been in town a couple weeks seen no beggars or panhandlers and seen the food bank. About 4 years ago in this town a murdurer with a rifle

Ответ для Greg Carr.

Killed 4 homeless over the course of 2 hours in the Downtown Area.

There's a theory that agriculture was a consequence of religion so God strikes again or whatever.

Distribution is not equal. The highest value is given to those whose need is least.

What's this "we" shit? What are YOU doing? Donate to your local food bank.

For some idiotic reason we call childhood hunger, "food insecurity". Who the fuck came up with that sanitized term, does it make things more palatable? Hungry kids have difficulty learning and hungry kids often turn angry when they realize how much of America does not face hunger issues.

Elon Musk is rich enough to end world hunger by himself.

Ответ для Sanmiao 三秒

we already produce enough food to end world hunger. but some people find it better to pay to throw their unsold food in the trashbin (sometimes even paying extra to make employees bleach the bin, which is now illegal in some countries) than give it to people who wouldn't have bought it anyway

Did somebody actually say that food isn’t a human right? Seriously??

Ответ для hiya0770

The USA and one other country has declared that food is NOT a human right.

Who said that? Take their food away from them and see how they like it

Christo-fascism works that way.... no surprise there. Religion was developed by the rich and powerful for the rich and powerful.

It comes down to paying customers Unfortunately And yet the USA AID program was cut out

For those who proclaim we're a Christian Nation, instructions on feeding the poor is found in the CHRISTIAN'S HOLY BIBLE in the Book of Leviticus 19:9-19 & 23:22 Instructions for left over sheaves of grain is in Deuteronomy 24:19-21 YES CONGRESS, we are to feed the poor. Not give the rich man more

Soon our food supplies will dwindle to nothing. It's called the Sixth Extinction Event. Tick-tock humans 🔥☠️🔥

Millions realized that when Maga DOGE took away funding for kids and schools. Then there's RFK Jr advocating against life saving vaccines for kids. Nor do they want to protect and defend young girls who were and still being abused by pedophiles.

The US has sunk to new lows in the eyes of the world. Thanks to that overly rich asshole Elon many thousands will die in Africa.

The evangelicals use a Rabbi to justify it. The Rabbi said to throw the food into the river. You would think that they would Jesus's example.

😒😒

It's horrible that there are people who think like this. Bet they're the same ones who manipulate things in such a way that there are shortages and high prices. All while starving farmers too.

We produce enough food stateside to feed the world. We destroy crops to keep pricing competitive across global markets.

Extreme wealth is not a human right, Gawds’ dammit.

As far as I'm aware, only 2 countries voted against a UN resolution stating food is a fundamental human right. 1 in the Middle East and 1 in North America

The elitism of the wealthy, and the wannabe wealthy. 🤑

I just leave this here...

It’s worse than this

Of course it’s a human right. It’s not even debatable

Something like 60% of the kids in Texas are food insecure. Let's drop a few more billion on bombs for vanity wars. How many democrats are talking about increasing food stamps, Social Security, and expanding Medicare?

Wait till you learn US eventually throws out 50% of the food it sends to market

There is enough on this world for need. But never enough for greed.

Ответ для Patchouli Woollahra

The people hoarding wealth are parasites gone out of control. They are killing the host - us - and don't care.

And not to mention the amount of food that gets thrown away. But we create all these barriers to enable people to buy food. It’s just sick.

What restaurants and grocery stores throw out would sicken you. Some things make it to food pantries, especially baked goods that are still fine, just not "fresh". But the distribution of food is far from equitable. And government programs that used to help the food insecure and being cut.

After working in restaurants I feel awful over the food that gets thrown out. The biggest issue is the law. Say you take all that left overs to someplace that serves food to people with no income or below minimum wage. Sadly if the food turns bad during the time and somebody get sick. You get sued.

Unbelievable but true. :-(

"Food isn't a human right" Gads. My eyes and ears are telling me that this is a typical Trillionaire response after eliminating USAID, right after he kills a few million people thru starvation. We do need to tax the rich.

This simply confirms that capitalism is completely out of control. Only strict regulation can transform it into an economic system that works for the majority instead of for an increasingly tiny group of greedy, super-wealthy psychopaths.

It's not enough that there should be sufficient food: It must also be within the gift of the master, and of no one else, to dispense it.

Nikola Tesla, one of the most innovative and progressive geniuses in American history starved to death after being ripped off by capitalists who refused to allow a genius to help humanity to find free power. Money is nice but it should never be the prime motivator. We need a new direction!

*"I won't help people without getting paid" There, I fixed it for you.

US Agriculture has mostly become a Coorperate Entity. Our farm yields are being sold for profit. Americans go hungry because of high prices for our food. Sadly..what we get is from SLAVE LABOR in the fields

When people first came to America, they lived in fortified towns. They all helped everyone in town survive as if they were one. America wouldn't exist if they acted like people do today.

Tough times.....

What are we even doing?! First, #VoteAllRepublicansOut

It’s plentiful… and able hands to make it happen…and there’s no reason why anybody should be dying of starvation or simply…a child being hungry, because of selfish greedy men.

But if some people don’t starve, how will I know I have a higher status than they do?

Why, YES! That is EXACTLY what this regime is doing.

Society isn't here to give lazy deadbeats a free lunch. Pull your own weight. Society doesn't owe you anything.

We developed agriculture so that one guy could own the food supply and create scarcity.

"The right to life begins at conception, and ends at birth" - GOP

Only the rich burn perfectly good food instead of giving it out

The most tragic of all is the amount of food Americans throw away. Restaurants & grocery store as well. Atrocity.

Exactly 💙✌️

America routinely wastes about 40% of the entire US food supply annually. That's about 60 million tons. There's no reason for people to go hungry in this country.

Many of the people who are against food stamps claim to support the right to life. Without food, there is no life.

Wasn't it some big shot at Nestle said people do NOT have a right to WATER, when he was talking about lakes ffs

Don’t get me started on the right to clean drinking water! The nestle ceo doesn’t think it’s a human right. They make billions off selling water.

Ответ для The Resistance CO

Water that they steal from public aquifers

Ответ для The Resistance CO

Nestle should be struck down and have their water holdings given back to the people we are already having water troubles in Kashmir. When the water wars start Nestle will be the target.

We need to abandon the idea that the right to survive has to be earned because that notion will lead us to deliberately make survival harder which is insane

Having feated on the loaves and fish, Jesus turned to the 5000, "Verily I say unto you, food is not a human right, and if I fed you it would only make you lazy." Sheesh, it's like none of you read your Bibles.

These wealthy bastards really need to be humbled. They couldn’t care less about Americans!!!

Yes. This is the world conservative Christians prayed, rallied and voted for. They love spreading misery and death wherever they go.

5% of Iowa's crop is used for human consumption.

It is a human right along with water and accommodation

I'm pretty sure we didn't "develop agriculture" with the idea that you are entitled to the food I've produced.

Who said food isn’t a human right? Sorry if I missed one of the the ridiculous and appalling statements from the Gilded Age 2.0 regime

Imagine a world where everyone eats everyday. It would actually be the biggest economic boost this world has ever produced!

Alan Rufus knew this. It is why we established the Commons: so that displaced farmers had rent-free, tax-free land on which to grow crops. Of course, many centuries later, the d*mned selfish conservatives stole that land for themselves.

If you want to have an innovative entrepreneurial thriving society….guarantee a roof, food security for all and universal healthcare….. and people will be pushing every envelope…..and sure, some people will spend their life on a couch… but that’s their problem…maybe invite them for a walk..

🎯

Everybody gets food and a roof over their heads. That needs to be our battle cry.

We grow enough food to feed every human we just divert most of it to feed animals so that some people can eat meat, eggs and dairy. It takes a lot of food to feed an animal… it’s not sustainable.

Same as being told water is not a right. If you need it to live * it is a right.

Ответ для Tia

If, as a person, I deprive you of food, water, and shelter, I’m a murderous monster. But if I’m corporation or a government I can deprive you of shelter, food, and water and still blame you for it.

We currently produce enough food to feed 10-14 billions people. The current world pop is roughly 8.4 billion. There's enough food to feed everyone well. The problem is in the "other issues."

EU payed farmers not to grow food to capacity or prices would fall. There was the food mountains that EU collected and disseminated to people like today's food banks. It is all Selfish choices. We can feed the world the West chooses not to. All while Live Aid sang away to its hearts content.

What is WRONG with people who are fine with their fellow humans starving to death when there is enough for everyone? Why are they not outraged?

We share. Greedy billionaires don’t. It’s a human problem.

Look at who is saying that though. The greedy ones. If we make food and health a right, worldwide, that is less for them to grift, less for them to steal. They absolutely make that calculation every day.

This mentality feels moral and just, and like the mortgage crisis, it results in turning people into Republicans. Like buying a house you can afford & then paying for the people who got a bigger house; the people who don't overspend wonder why they're paying to feed others while eating their beans.

We taxpayers give - from a $50k salary: ✔️ $36 to POOR PEOPLE --> FOR FOOD ONLY. AND... ✔️$3700 to WEALTHY PEOPLE to do whatever they WANT. CRYPTO, BRIBES, HOOKERS, BLOW - you name it. Thats fully fucked up!!!

Animal Ag creates conditions that guarantee starvation, desertification, lack of water, shifts in ocean currents & jet stream, redirection of weather patterns, great suffering for all life. Plant-based diet balances elements, restores destroyed lands, waters, wildlife, forests, can feed 10bil humans

Bezos is trying to argue that the people don't really need water because AI will be so smart it will save all future water issues? wow, these tech guys really drank the musk CoolAid and they certainly didn't sell that idea to the people

You have a right to get the fuck back to work.

There are basic human needs low on Maslow's pyramid that society should support. Not necessarily guarantee or provide an over abundant supply, but support. Surely Capitalism & Democracy can both be strong enough together. if you earn more you can have more but you also need to support some basics.

Ответ для Phil Doty

Capitalism functions as an ouroboros because it constantly requires the consumption of the very social foundations, natural resources, and human labor that sustain its existence. It concentrates wealth in the hands of the few at the expense of the masses. It isn’t sustainable.

Ответ для Phil Doty

It shouldn't be decided by the people who manipulate things to favour themselves and then not support the "losers" in their stacked system, the same "losers" who made them rich in the first place. We pay taxes, would rather see them go to the "losers" rather than their pet projects.

Ответ для Phil Doty

Agreed. That said, the words "enough" and "basics" are doing some heavy lifting. Their definitions would be matters of debate if this were to become policy.

No profit in charity.

Literally not a single person in America should go hungry. Just look at our grocery stores, the insane waste we all are guilty of every single day. Stores just throw out still edible food, restaurants throw out entire meals daily and lock the bins because god forbid someone eat. We are so scuffed.

Republicans campaign every cycle to stop abortions and will always try to cut food assistance for less fortunate children of all ages ! Pure Evil !

Ответ для Steve J

And they see nothing wrong with that!

If you deny the requirements to survive as human rights, you deny a human right to life.

Unfortunately, our economic system is hinged upon the erosion of social welfare systems to make you desperate enough to sell yourself into wage slavery. If theres no threat of homelessness, sickness, and starvation, then you cant be compelled to comply with their exploitation. Capitalism MUST die.

60m tons of food is wasted every year, 59.9m wasted by fat ass trump daily

Shelter and steady food is a human right.

I managed a food bank in my area. We gave everyone the basics+ extras. I was amazed by how many only wanted bread, meat, pasta, pasta sauce and canned veggies and sweets. They didn't want dry goods. They didn't want anything that took longer than 20 minutes to cook. They always asked for junk food.

To let the RIGHT people starve. 😉 😕

It is a capitalist choice that people starve.

If food, shelter, and clean drinking water aren’t human rights, then what IS a human right? The right to die? Gee. Thanks.

obvious vs oblivious: apparently neither are: clean fresh air. clean fresh water. clean healthy oceans. access to seeing the stars without light pollution or interference from satellites. the necessity to have natural sunlight. unihibited communion with other magnificent lifeforms, not just people.

Who said that??

Ответ для Skilly

If you are an American... YOU did. Through your UN representative...

It’s truly insane To let people have food insecurity There is so much waste What’s wrong with us

They want to make sure you have to work to get it. They can exploit your labor that way.

Reminder that when 186/193 UN Nations voted on making Food a Global Human Right, only 2 nations voted NO: The United States Israel

Yes. We gave farms to government or sold them to move to the big city. Then suburbs, promising a house and lawn. Then they sold us the lie that we could have kids and work full-time. Now we have neurotic kids on screens. Anything "old fashioned," like canning food, was seen as backwards. I'd go back

Perhaps anyone who claims that food is not a human right should be required to live without food for two weeks. Once they’ve experienced that then they should be asked again if food is a human right. Perspective can make a world of difference in one’s opinion.

Yeah, but, data centres... 🙄🤬

Ask Elon. He prefers data centers over people. Cutting aid to people that are starving. #FuckElon

The people that have the food would rather throw it in the garbage/ landfill than give it away for free. Nothing is gonna happen until we solve that.

And then declare that you are Pro Life.

I’m sooooo happy to work at a place that doesn’t do that. Everything we sell we make daily, and whatever doesn’t sell that day gets donated to food shelves. Even our food scraps get donated to farmers for pig slop. It’s not a giant step, but I feel better about it than other places I’ve worked.

Ответ для Wayne

Also ask them why they lock the bins. I guess they don't want pesky starving people eating food they literally threw out.

Agreed! Nobody should go without food. Ever.

Bezos just wants to feed data centers while he starves those on the planet who may need a little food... freaking horrid rich bad actor.

. Let the ones who said, or believe, that go without food for a week or 10 days, then we'll find out if they're still that stupid. .

Get rid of capitalism and this is possible

or go without medical or having shelter..........medicines, etc.

Food isn't a human right!!??? WTF

I think the point is that if you're entitled to the effort of others as a right, then that would be slavery.

If food isn't a human right, then nothing is.

One thing I like to remind people when they cry about overpopulation is that the problem isn’t a lack of resources. We have enough food & clothing for everyone on the planet. The problem is greedy oligarchs wasting & trashing that surplus instead of distributing it so they don’t have to lower costs.

Wait till the rich find out about us breathing oxygen for free.

You should see how much food is wasted at big retailers as well. Especially Wal-mart.

Approximately 24,000 to 25,000 people die from hunger and related causes every day, which translates to one person dying every four seconds. Out of the roughly 9 million people who die from hunger annually, about one-third are children under the age of 5.

Ответ для James Hughes

And this is a damn shame

Who said that?

It’s a life-necessary resource, more than just a human right. All life must have food, so we must never allow food to be controlled by rich fat fuckers who have plenty.

Exactly. If we are to have a moral right to survive as a civilisation, we take everyone with us when we manage our food production. Selecting who lives & who dies when everyone could live, is murder. It is the Nazi solution. & I bet it will never be applied by the wealthy against the wealthy.

people think "right to food" means "right to your food" which it does not. A lot of Americans have a hard time with contemplating positive rights (what you have a right to), as opposed to negative rights (what can't be done to you).

There are billionaires only because we allow it.

We live in a society where individuals have given up the right to aquire food in exchange for currency that we can use to purchase food. The problem now is that we aren't paid enough currency to aquire food and we can no longer go into the prarie and take a rabbit for dinner. Now what? Yep!

A human right is a justified claim or entitlement to something (e.g., life, liberty, property, self-defense, free speech) that others have a duty to respect. Nobody is entitled to the product of someone else's labor. If you want food, grow it yourself or buy it from someone willing to sell it.

So how much do you share or is that just for everyone else?
