Not really. For example, on the issue of abortion, we can pretend the unborn are a full-grown adult, and the act of abortion as the most violent thing imaginable, and it still wouldn't violate rights, nor be murder, nor be illegal in a constitutional republic. The "science" is just not relevant.

Because of things like "international law" aggressors in war don't need to worry about their civilians getting bombed. The West's approach to foreign policy makes war relaxing for the West's aggressive enemies.

But politics is about rights, not "science." Having an abortion doesn't violate any rights and so should be perfectly legal. Restricting abortion is a rights violation and such restrictions should be struck down as unconstitutional. The issue is the *political* illiterates dominating our discourse.

If people are no different to microscopic tissue, that hasn't even been born yet, then it's not clear why murder would be a problem anyway. The whole "abortion is murder" angle has never made any sense to me.

Big unconstitutional government is what allows Trump to do all this. If you’re not advocating for drastically shrinking our gov to its proper function of protecting rights then you’re asking for Trump and worse.

I must’ve missed where experts like Tom Nichols, fresh from losing to the Taliban and Iran, formulated a plan to crush Russia. Trump is bad, but Western foreign policy experts are truly hopeless.

I think it’s because of experts like Tom Nichols that the West can’t win any wars. People like this shouldn’t be taken seriously and should at least be facing some tough questions about the total failure of all of their terrible ideas.

At no point. The West has no foreign policy. Ideas like “Just War” and “international law” make fighting wars impossible anyway. There’s a very real lack of expertise in this field but no one’s talking about it.

That sounds like an emergency situation and cannot be how we run our energy grid. Having electricity for merely an afternoon has no real purpose. It's the same as not having electricity at all. This is indeed a "historical" place to be in 2026.

I would think the inability of the US to easily crush Iran is the real travesty, right on the back of NATO's disgraceful surrender to the Taliban and lack of plan to deal with Russia. There's something fundamentally broken with the West's approach to foreign policy but no one's talking about it.

But since the capacity of solar and wind to generate on demand electricity is effectively zero, what does it mean to add “more capacity.” What do those numbers on the graph (like 381Gw) actually refer to?

But climate change is the conspiracy theory. Like flat-earth. The idea that industrial civilisation, which has improved our standard of living to unprecedented levels, is destroying our environment is obviously wrong. Not to mention that it wouldn’t justify authoritarian central planning anyway.

I think ideas like Just War Theory and “international law” make it impossible to win wars so this is the circus that results. We need to fundamentally rethink our approach. Treating war like a peacetime legal dispute is suicidal and doesn’t work.

I think it's because it's not meant for ordinary people who have basic thinking skills. It's meant for the big-brained geniuses of Western foreign policy.
