upon further research i was actually wrong, bear pete was replaced with a cat version specifically after oswald was no longer usable

I looked into it more and somehow we're both right?? he's the successor to Bootleg Pete who was unambiguously a bear, but in the first Mickey Mouse shorts he was reintroduced as Pegleg Pete in the form of a cat
