Thats weird cause I wouldnt call it cutsey. . . Best I can think that people maybe mean is that no matter what kind of scene is happening you manage to keep the characters looking consistent and appealing maybe?

Amateurly, I want to say it's because your shape language generally leans toward softer edges over jagged or stark ones? Soft edges make art look "cuter" from my own experience. You are definitely versatile in your genres but the soft shapes perhaps give laymen a sense of "cuteness" to every piece.

Honestly, I don’t find it cutesy, more like highly-polished and detailed. Besides that, love your stuff.

We get typecasted based on what we're best known for, some of us just have the luxury of hiding our faces and real names to avoid that connection. It is annoying, but you know who you are as an artist.

Maybe they haven’t looked at your other material? We all know how versatile your style is, and it is goooood.

i think its because of how accuretly you draw sonic and the crew, and that style is already pretty cute? I like your other works/styles but when you draw sonic stuff it squeezes my heart with how beautiful and cute it is!

Sonic characters always have a "Cutsey" look to them, so maybe that's what they mean? But you certainly are a versatile artist, and I wouldn't describe all of your art as cutsey!

People grasp for quick words to give compliments and "Cute" is commonly understood as "Very good" despite how obviously versatile and different a piece / artist is. That is a good question though. Makes me think about how I compliment pieces a bit more for sure.

I say this with as much kindness as I can convey but a lot of Sonic Fans have no idea what makes art good. At best, they have shared notes from a tweet that went viral to stay consistent on what they want. Your art is absolutely versatile, and you should be able to hone that versatility confidently

At first I read this and went "Yea me too, a lot of Sonic artists actually" But then I remembered the same probably goes for Kirby fans... and Pikmin fans... and Spyro, and- I could go on. Cartoon really has that incidental side effect huh?

Because people look at some few art and already judges a artist entire reach as being just what their limited perspective is, so it's not that worth it listening too, better look for people that actually know all your works to give a more proper critique.

I'm right there with you on this. I think people in general have a bad habit of labeling an artist as having ONE style. Which I don't think anyone necessarily means harm by, but it can be frustrating to feel like the scope of your skillset is being boiled down to just one thing you can do.

Oh so theres a word for it. Now my art skills make a lot more sense.

I think it depends on the one saying it, and how much of your body of work they’ve actually seen.

The talented get typecast, even when they're creators. (And especially when it comes to comics, unfortunately.) I'm sure @ianflynnbkc.bsky.social could write a great crime-political-thriller novel, but he'd have to wade through the minefield of snobs in the literary world the whole time.

Art style thing, somentimes I draw diferent things from cute art but somehow, it keeps reminding to somenthing cute

Sometimes, well-meaning people can be slovenly in their language. Your art can definitely be cutesy, but also epic, defined, dramatic, ethereal, and that’s just off the top of my head; you’re absolutely a versatile artist!

I don't think that just because they think your art is cute, they stop thinking it's also versatile.

I see it versatile though consistent. Cute is not how I would describe your style. 😂
