One good thing will come of this bullshit Iran war — much of the world will truly commit to renewable energy infrastructure and cutting ties to Middle East oil. I hate to say this but that happens because we have an addiction problem. Have you watched Landman? Billy Bob often steps out of his role while remaining in character and breaks the football in subtle ways to let the viewers know exactly why we have and will always have an ‘oil’ problem.

We watched In the Heart of the Sea the other night and the oil ‘problem’ appeared there as well: a hint at the shift from (the addiction to) whale oil to petroleum, after some well digger somewhere (Pennsylvania?) found oil underground.

It is actually quite good. Shame it’s on Paramount+ but Laurie really wanted to see it after we watched a teaser of the first two or three episodes. Luckily we were able to purchase just the show through Prime rather subscribe to Paramount+. I know, Prime or Paramount+. Flip a coin, eh?

Fun fact: The first life insurance policy in the English speaking world that we still have the details for was a 12 month policy from 1583. When the person died 345 days later the insurance company denied the claim because 12 months is not the same as a year. 12 months = 12 x 28 days = 336 days.
