Well. For now Im Ok I guess. I disabled play automaticly but dang thats a bummer. Granted my name is my primary signature for a reason but it does not match the login. Use two different names; contains damage.

and that's why I manually cut the tracking shit from the link it's usually removing everything after the first question mark, question mark included

I’ve seen this shared so many times and I even after checking to see if my YouTube needed to be updated I still can’t find this option

For those wondering, this appears to be a thing in the YouTube mobile app. not sure if it will eventually show up elsewhere

this dumb shit pisses me off because on mobile there's no way to get into the real comments of a video if someone sends it to you with that link. and when someone sends me a link I can interact with them on whatever platform I'm already talking to them on. idk what moron invented this feature

I wondered what "fuckwit7630 shared this with you!" came from. No announcement, opt in, anything. I've been doing the beneath when sharing youtube links for a year+ now. We're only eyeballs, data and wallets to these worms. They're biting harder every day.

I need to know what audience this is for. Like who is the target demographic for this feature?

This (or at least the tracking links) has been a thing for a while IIRC.

This appears to impact the app based, for now. I remember like 10 years ago they tried to do something similar "5pence and 18 others are watching this video right now" and it was rolled back on privacy grounds. I wonder if this will be the same.

or you can just take off teh "?si" from all the links when sharing from YouTube/twitter/basically any site the ?si followed by a string of code is how they idenitfy you

Thanks for that info. I’ve also started to remove the reftags within the url before I share the link. It also helps removes the tracers to your profile

I was rather confused when it said I’m now interacting with someone I don’t recognize the name of.

Worth also noting that Instagram has been doing this for a while. Haven't found a way to turn it off in settings there, but removing the ?igsh= URL parameter stops it.

This is not a thing for all users and is likely a feature they're testing out as you can see, that bit is not there for everyone
