honestly if you have a teenager in your life and you're tempted to make jokes about how they're a teenager, maybe instead tell them they're doin okay and you love them and you wanna see whatever thing they're working on. stop making fun. they're near universally not at a place where it feels funny

Ugh, it took me so long to unlearn that after growing up with my dad doing that to me. I was such an ass to my friends for years, because I genuinely thought that was somehow showing camaraderie and affection. Wish I could apologize to some of the people I lost track of before realizing.

*claps loudly* I was my father's joke from 12-18. Doubt he noticed, but our relationship never recovered, adding on to other stuff he did. I knew I couldn't trust him with anything at all important.
