I haven't posted about this because who cares about my private life, but I'm looking to buy my first house, and I found my perfect fantasy house. I spent the last month literally dreaming about it. The seller accepted my offer. I was over the moon. Then he ghosted me. Today it sold. This so sucks.

💔

So sorry 😞

I’m so, so sorry!!

Did you work with a realtor? If not I’d recommend it. So sorry you had to be ghosted. Some people suck.

Ответ для kate Larkworthy

Realtor. Lawyer. They ghosted all of us after saying they accepted the offer and were sending a contract over that day. Bastards. The truth is I don't want to do business with shady people like that. But I'm going to mourn this house for a while.

Ответ для Helen Kennedy

Oh man. Such a disappointment. Well, you and the realtor really lose out but the lawyer still gets paid for her time. And that’s on you. What a drag.

Ответ для Helen Kennedy

That’s a good attitude to have- be angry and sad and then carry on!

Oh no! That sucks. i hope you find one even better.

Jerk! I'm so sorry!

Oh I'm so sorry. That does suck. I hope you find an even better home that makes you think, "I'm glad I didn't get that one after all."

Ответ для Rosanna Landis Weaver

This is what I'm hoping. I'm sure I'm not the only one who missed out on a big job and was devastated, but then looked back years later and saw it was a gift that I didn't realize at the time.

Ответ для Helen Kennedy

Also, based on the behavior of the seller, the house is surely filled with bad juju, so you actually dodged a bullet!

Ответ для Gee

Yes!

Ответ для Helen Kennedy

So awful but the good thing is you only need to find one! And despair is housing search is just a stage, if you haven’t entered despair it means you just aren’t paying close enough attention to the market ;)

My town has a very competitive housing market and when we were buying there was a house I loved and we got out bid. Like a month later a violent house invasion happened 2 houses over and I was glad we didn't have to deal with that.

Oh god - I was so happy for you in the first half of this message.

Horrible. This is the era of Trump. Move on, you'll get your new home. It will find you!

My husband and I fell in love with a house and didn’t get it - they thought our offer was too low - and then we bought a house in a better neighbourhood and better school district that appreciated massively over the 30 years we owned it - wishing the same for you!

Helen I'm sorry. There will be another one.

Ответ для News by Nature

Omg I have to fill you in!

Been there. I’m sorry!

i'm so sorry, that's a shitty thing to do

I'm sorry to hear that. Did they accept your offer in writing? If so you could still wind up with it. Just because someone came in with another 20K isn't reason to break a contract.

Ответ для darthstar

Just verbal I'm afraid.

This is why I hired the toughest realtor I could find to get my house. He gave 100% good advice and wouldn't let the seller get squirrely. He also handled selling my old house and got a good offer. I literally live in my dream house 5 minutes from my work.

That’s awful - I’m really sorry.

If they were willing to do this, odds are good you are well rid of them & all appearances to the contrary, you’re probably better off without the house, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were “undisclosed issues” with the property. I’ve found when I lost out on something I was later glad it happened.

Ответ для DTwyman

Also, I’m sorry. This stinks!

So sorry

Sis found the house of her dreams, found a faulty window installation during inspection. She simply asked for the cost to repair it. Seller’s reaction was shocking/ did the same thing. Tossed her offer and ghosted- the end. Two weeks later, Hurricane Harvey hit. The better house is always ahead.

Ответ для Kat

Omg. That's exactly what happened. We discovered a feature that had not been permitted. Their reaction was like I killed their child.

Ответ для Helen Kennedy

obviously who knows, but *if* they had issues they needed to go unnoticed, that's exactly how they might treat anybody that showed some level of attention

Ответ для Helen Kennedy

Sorry that happened. It can be hostile but I’ve also had exchanges that were lovely and smooth. I looked for 2 years to find the house I’m in now. It was on the market for 30 days and I had somehow missed it? Once I saw the listing, I scheduled the walk through and put a contract in. You’ll find it!

I’m sorry to hear this. That is gutting. Having bought a house in Covid we over bid on 2 or 3 before we landed in our place and five years later were thrilled this is the one we got. Keep looking. You’ll land.

I’m so sorry, this happened to us too. Seller accepted our offer, we paid for an inspection and were in early rounds on the contract, and then all of a sudden they are selling to someone else. It’s such a deep disappointment

I always assume deals will go bad, and then when it goes bad, I'm not disappointed. And when it goes well, I'm so surprised and tickled.

I care.

😿😿😿

Been there... so sorry.

I'm so sorry. That sucks. Hope you find an even better house soon.

Oh, Helen! I’m so sorry! Keep looking 🏡

That is sucky… You will find the right house

🙀 that's terrible! Hoping you find another dream house that takes your bid first.

I'm so sorry. I hope he gets an incurable itch somewhere very private.

Whoaa. Sorry

That sucks; I’m sorry. I had a similar, but not quite the same situation. Three months later I moved into my new, far more wonderful place. I hope the same for you. ❤️

😰

This happened for a reason. Be thankful.

Oh damn, Helen! That's the worst feeling, happened to us years ago. Then we found a much better house and I hope the same thing happens to you.

That sucks so much, I’m sorry that happened

How disappointed you must feel. There’s another that will be even more your home!!

Kee-rist. I'm really sorry. 🫂

Oof I'm sorry. House-shopping is such a roller coaster.

Been there, several times.

Seller sounds like a miserly jerk. Probably dead squirrels wrapped in cellophane under the floorboards. Or hidden chests of gold doubloons that he's forgotten about. Could have gone either way now that I think about it.

Ugh, that's awful. I'm sorry. Hope you find a better home soon.

Then it wasn’t meant to be. Buying a house is so stressful. It took us almost 2 years to find our home.

This just happened to my daughter 😠

Ответ для feemus

We should do a strangers on the train. I'll burn down her lost house and she can burn down mine.

Ответ для Helen Kennedy

(in case anything horrible happens, this was a joke.)

Ответ для Helen Kennedy

Lost Houses have a Lost Horizons vibe— they have in common glimpse of beauty lost but appreciated

Not for nothing, but there might be some contract law to be explored here. Accepting an offer creates a binding contract under certain circumstances. If you submitted in writing and they accepted there could be, you know, legal responsibilities here. I’ve seen these things go into litigation.

Ответ для lifeinthedesert

Eh. These people are dirt bags. I'd rather just be shot of them.

Ответ для Helen Kennedy

Very wise of you. I wish I could turn my lawyer brain off . . .

Ответ для lifeinthedesert

Be kind of fun if one could make them take her offer from the other buyer...they still get the house but they get a nice discount. Seems only fair.

Ответ для Helen Kennedy

My thoughts exactly!

If the seller accepted your offer, it's a signed contract. How can they simply ignore it? Aren't there still some laws left in your country?

So sorry. Karma will get him.

oooouuuuuch

That’s awful. On a much much smaller scale, Facebook Marketplace drives me crazy with shit like that.

I thought there were lega obligations if an offer is accepted…

Ответ для MKSutherland

Me too 😭 But it wasn't on paper

I'm so, so sorry. Been there. It is the worst.

Ugh. So sorry to hear this.

I'm so sorry. I really hope a much better house comes your way. And they all get permanent paper cuts for doing that to you

Wait can they do that after accepting an offer?

So sorry to hear this. People really suck sometimes.

Yeah, that's a bad beat and the seller's lame.

See the UK - gazumping. Sigh. Hang in there.

Damn place is probably haunted And has bats.

I'm sorry. Some ppl are total a**holes.

Awwww 🫂

There was no realtor involved on either side?

Ответ для aka Uncle Cracker

Yup. The seller's realtor and lawyer joined in the ghosting. Completely unprofessional.

Ответ для Helen Kennedy

Absolutely! Had you put earnest money down too? Just because I’ve turned really sour, I would try to find a way to piss in the other realtor’s cornflakes/ beef to the State licensing board!

Ответ для aka Uncle Cracker

My realtor is considering it. I mean they have a duty to their client to at least see if I will best the other offer! But they never did that.

Ответ для Helen Kennedy

… sorry for the set-back, something better will come by-or their deal may fall apart

wtf! Sorry, Helen. Hate sayin’ it, but it wasn’t for you. Maybe that’s a good thing. Sucks, anyway.

That's wretched. I'm sorry.

We once found our fantasy place & it blipped to “Pending” while on the phone with our agent. Was a major disappointment. I still think about it.

Oh no, I’m so sorry, Helen! It’s hard when you have envisioned yourself there and then the seller is a tool. But the water thing - dodged one there. This is one of the “joys” of buying in France - everything is a legal process.

Ответ для Rachael

You nailed it about picturing myself there. I spent a month mentally designing the garden and placing furniture and showing guests around. It was going to be spectacular. 😭 None of the other places I've seen spoke to me.

Ответ для Helen Kennedy

😭 I’m sure it would have been. And I hope you find a better one very soon. Is there something like a St Joseph statue but for buying? Off to look on internet.

Ответ для Rachael

St Joe works for house hunting too, but no weird burial/display rites. So yay?

The next one will be even better. Seriously.

Now the seller is on the hook for breach of contract.

Ответ для Tom Higgins

His lawyer said he was sending over a contract but it never appeared so I guess it doesn't count.

I’m sorry.

Oh god, this is awful. Buying a house is so stressful in the best case scenario; encountering this sort of chud just makes it worse. I’m very sorry.

Ugh. I'm so sorry. That's terrible. You should do an '80s movie style campaign of harassment and pranks against the new owners so it'll be back on the market soon.

Ответ для S

Well, the water test came back "non potable" so maybe they'll die.

Ответ для Helen Kennedy

helen if it’s a well and non potable i’m going to tell you congrats on not getting stuck w it (i have both)

Ответ для letithappenalreadymama

It was.

Ответ для Helen Kennedy

what about that lighthouse out in mt sinai, have you seen THAT house???

Ответ для Helen Kennedy

That’s the spirit!

Ответ для Helen Kennedy

That's the spirit! 😊 Srsly tho you wouldn't want that headache. I put a bid on a house that went into banko out from under me. Then it turned out to have a clown infestation (literally the owners were clowns and refused to move out). Dodged a bullet there!

So sorry, that sucks.
