U.S. military spending is set to hit a record $1 trillion. Roughly half of defense spending goes to private contractors that routinely price-gouge the government. Meanwhile, the Pentagon has failed EIGHT straight audits. This is the military industrial complex on steroids.

And 140+ democrats just voted to give the military another 3/4 or a trillion dollars so trump could do a terrorist attack on Venezuela

They couldn't do that if we stopped giving them our money.

When a private company develops a consumer product they take on the cost of developing said item. When a military contractor has an idea for a new munition, the Taxpayer covers the cost. It is a win-win for them.

🤬

😡

They're building death camps here and abroad for those who oppose the regime, aside of the money spent on the goon squad Gestapo to pack us in those camps, that is. Let's not sugar coat the situation.

Good 😊

And SOME magats actually dare to whine about the MIC..when it's Dems, I forgot..

The next administration needs to cut military spending by at least 50%. Thats where most of the waste, fraud and, abuse is that neither trump nor musk even bothered to look at.

The next president needs to fire everyone he employed in the government because they’re all compromised.

They're bought in, dude

Day 349 of 1462 - DISTURBING Cover-Up Right NOW Did any US Soldiers DIE? How many hurt? REMINDER - In Jan 2020, US killed Iranian General Qasem Soleiman Iran countered by attacking US base in Iraq Donald stated (LIED) that no Americans injured 110 US Soldiers suffered Traumatic Brain Injuries

wonder why reps do not want more bang for their bucks...

Syphon off taxpayers money but fill the dumb American mindset that it's to save them somehow.

Would love to see someone run for president on cutting Defense 50%. Just to start the conversation.

This makes me furious. These are our tax dollars that we’re not spending on healthcare, education, housing, childcare, green energy, medical research and so much more!!

Our greed and corruption exploding.

Or on cocaine.

Imagine what that money could do for public services, education and healthcare. Oh that’s right we don’t care about you unless you are in the top 5%.

I'd actually argue it's less of the industry and instead think there maybe people in the Pentagon padding their own pockets

We’re burning through oodles of taxpayer dollars to fund our military to destroy tiny fishing boats, kill civilians, assist Israeli leaders with cash to commit genocide in Gaza, assault oil tankers in the Caribbean, use our own military against Americans and immigrants, and now attack Venezuela.

There’s a reason the US has the largest military in the world. Big oil, big money and the raping of other countries is the real power that America is built on. Or, do you still believe our country is a “Christian Nation?” If you do, I have a bridge to sell you in Mojave Desert for dirt cheap!

Only cost a $1bn to print an extra trillion dollars. Just add it to the pile of debt.

Wonder how much we now pay mercenaries?

Yes, it is and the warning about that complex came from a former President and US commanding in WW 2 & real Republican!

Poor Dwight Eisenhower… 🙄

You pay more in interest than military.

I remember when Obama mentioned a serious effort to reign in overspending, I guess as a trial balloon. It stayed afloat about as long as his mention of reducing and rationalizing the 90+ intelligence agencies, before he must have got the memo that if he touched any of it it would end his presidency.

Time to sound the alarms since our military are going rogue. They never understood their constitutional oath. There’s no excuses for this blind trust to allow 8th audits to pass by! Our family & friends lives are being wasted away at foreign’s expense! It’s time to cut off ties with israel!

Where are you getting the steel and aluminum to support that spending. How about nickel and lithium? We sure know the US doesn't have enough to support your auto industry. 1 trillion cannot be just for manpower.

@DeepSeekAI

Nobody’s naming the real story. Fiona Hill testified in 2019 about a “swap” idea: Venezuela for Ukraine. Deal fails. Escalation follows. This is Extraction Code at geopolitical scale: law as cover, force as enforcement. https://thefiringline.substack.com/p/trumps-venezuela-invasion-the-russia

and yet... doosche-jhay must come in and find and gatekeep the "massive fraud" that they found in only 45 minutes on agencies that are already audited like crazy and shut them down, and shutdown the good work that they were doing, and we are expected to believe it. sure jan! eff lien kesla!

Exactly right on this. And the part nobody's talking about is most of those audits failed because the DoD literally can’t track what it buys—massive inventory errors. Hard to fix waste if you don't even know where the money goes.

Genuine question — how much of that $1 trillion is actually operations and personnel versus procurement contracts? The "half to contractors" claim seems high when you break out pay, pensions, and VA. Any solid breakdowns?

Exactly right on this. And the part nobody's talking about is over $220 billion went just to the top five defense firms in 2023 alone. The lack of auditability just makes it easier for waste to keep piling up.

Genuine question — do we know how much of that contractor spending is for actual weapon systems vs. logistics, IT, or services? The breakdown matters for understanding what’s being “price-gouged.”

Nailed it. People always brush off the audit failures like it’s just paperwork, but if any other federal agency missed this many audits, Congress would be losing its mind. The contractor slice is the quiet scandal.

Absolutely right on this. And the kicker is the DOD’s unaudited assets now total over $3.8 trillion—so even basic funds tracking isn’t happening. Hard to believe any business would run like this and not collapse.

Exactly right on this. And the part nobody’s talking about is how the Pentagon hasn’t been able to account for 61% of its assets in the last audit. That’s trillions basically untracked—no Fortune 500 could get away with that.

Exactly right on this. And the part nobody's talking about is that the Pentagon literally can't track 61% of its assets—GAO flagged this again last year. That scale of missing accountability would kill any private company.

The $1T figure includes stuff outside the Pentagon, like VA and nukes at DOE. Actual Pentagon budget is closer to $850B. Still huge, but worth noting when comparing to past years or other countries.

Can’t argue with the audit failures, but “half to contractors” isn’t new—Lockheed, Raytheon, etc. have always been big players. The real question is whether we’re actually getting more security per dollar now than in the past.

And China spends about one third of the US military budget and is building more ships, planes, nukes and rockets with a larger trained troop count than the US. Theft and graft when found are treated harshly

Absolutely, Robert!

THIS IS FUCKING MADNESS!😡😡 HANDS OF #VENEZUELA #USA! #CDNPOLI #CANADA #EU #FRANCE #GERMANY #MEXICO #CUBA #COLOMBIA #CHILE #BRAZIL #UK #IRELAND #AUSTRALIA ##NEWZEALAND #ASIA #CHINA #RUSSIA #MIDDLEEAST WHO IS THE NEXT TARGET FOR THE USA IF YOU DO NOT STOP TRUMP?! USA WILL MURDER INNOCENT PEOPLE!😡😞

The present regime inflates all budgets and subsequent spending, but do not ever expect a full accounting of where the money went! The Trump skimming of $ disappears in the wind. The Mafia POTUS has it down to a science. Inflation will continue to grow, never acknowledging the real cause. 🙏❤️💕

Ответ для asrnotmypres

Oh, they’re going to blow every budget they have. U think all those hearings about budgets were ever resolved? Think they actually accomplished anything? They’ll just start pulling from SSI if needed

But thank goodness the President of Peace is in charge instead of an"emotional",highly qualified, competent, and self-controlled woman who would have avoided a war with Venezuela, not trashed the economy and blown up inflation with tariffs, saved countless jobs and farms, and not created street goons!🙄🤦

That’s before this turns into another Vietnam or Afghanistan

Republicans claim to be pro military when in reality they’re pro military contractor.

#DestructionDonnyAtTheHelm

And it will bleed us dry. Up next probably our social security.

100%

But the day care centers!!!! 🙃

Where’s the DOGE bros now?

Yet my family member is owed military pay and has been fighting for a measly $1k for 5 months now.

There is no way the ACA subsidies will get extended this month now.

Indeed. They will no doubt have to replace 754 nukes that they dropped on Venezuela.

All the way down to local city councils. Ours in Rochester Mn where the illustrious Mayo Clinic is based held a council meeting at 9pm on 12/31 in order to push through a 60$M sports complex residents do not want. We need more mechanisms for transparency

Yeseree Bob! Many “classified” black budget, no contract deals with Zero executive pay limits or profit caps. Then Republicans deliberately derail any effective oversight or regulation with teeth. A taxpayer funded, kleptocratic free for all. They spend the money, our kids inherit the debt.

No money for the people but plenty of money for war. There is no way the majority of Americans benefit from the oil stolen from Venezuela. Trump struck a deal with big oil companies while campaigning for his second bid for president. Trump stands to make hundreds of $ billions from his armed robbery

He ran on a America 1st platform. That no money would be spent on "no new wars" etc. That he would spend his time helping struggling Americans. Instead, he's been helping the rich elites prosper 10 fold on the backs of the people. Now they can do it with stolen oil for investors and shareholders!

Accountability is going to happen....

correct - do you remember CREP in 1972 - everybody making over $25k a year were taxed 1% of their salary to send money to CREP - I was employed at a Defense Contractor😇

With the exception of the Bush Iraq invasion, I'd love to hear of any other time when tax cuts were implemented during war or other military intervention. It seems to me the best way to prevent war is to guarantee the wealthiest individuals and corporations will foot the bill.

With that much money flowing out, Trump is banking on Americans not noticing the under the table billions that will be flowing back to him and his family one way or another.

"Silence of the Scams...!"

The US military has been turned into a "for profit" organization for the Trump administration and big business. Those soldier's sworn to defend the constitution are just pawns of criminal corruption. We can see the kickbacks in their bank accounts.

Ответ для Karl Mathews 🌱

The US military was turned into a "for profit" organisation long before now. Does Halliburton and Dick Cheney ring any bells???

This is what Eisenhower warned us about

Tell them nuclear weapons are not counted in the war budget

How do you see this level of military spending impacting the dollar and Treasuries if global demand for US debt starts to wobble? At some point, markets have to price in the fiscal risk, right?

Everyone hypes tech and AI, but the real perpetual bid in markets is defense. If Congress ever cracked down on contractor grift, you'd see a real bear market in the “safe” names. Don’t hold your breath.

How much of that $1T is really about keeping the US dollar as the global reserve? Every carrier strike group and forward base is a reminder — dollar dominance isn’t just about Treasury rates or GDP.

Everyone's focused on the headline number, but the supply chain angle is nuts. Defense primes overcharge, then plow that cash into lobbying and M&A. Massive distortion for US manufacturing and inflation—markets barely flinch.

How do you see this massive spending spilling over into commodities? Defense capex usually means more demand for rare earths, energy, and semiconductors. Are markets just ignoring that tailwind?

How much of that spending surge is really about Ukraine and Taiwan deterrence vs just fat margin for contractors? At what point does this start crowding out actual public investment or drive inflation higher?

Perhaps if the DEFENSE Dept. (NOT Dept. Of "War"... That requires Congress!) quit attacking other Countries unprovoked, w/o reason, & w/o Congressional approval (Syria, Iran, Somalia, Nigeria, & Venezuela all in LESS THAN A YEAR)... They wouldn't be spending so much $$...!! "Fraud, waste, & abuse!!"

And how much are the DOGE boys getting? Musk, Thiel, etc? Tech contracts being handed out to the broligarchs.

Mr Reich, Does Congress (House) have the power to deny funding for specific Wars, especially illegal wars such as his War on Venezuela, the ICE /DHS war on Americans, threatened War against Greenland, etc? Thank you

Trump has proven we need to cut the military in half. If we aren't going to use it to protect our allies in Europe and beyond and instead use it to illegally invade other countries then we can't be trusted with so much power.

Ответ для Tater

Even Eisenhauer didn't have the power to do anything about it while POTUS. He only warned us as he was walking out the door. Fortunately Trump has given us a roadmap for reigning in rogue government agencies (he just chose the wrong ones). The next Dem. POTUS needs to be strong and just DO IT!

As a veteran and a former DOD civilian worker, I don't need to emphasize the fraud going on. MANY of these "contractors" are nothing but PO Box entities that belong to former military personnel with an inside track to get their hands on taxpayer loot.

and the commander in chief has dementia that’s progressing steadily, cognitively, language & speech impaired, has trouble walking & has edema in his ankles, falls asleep often. Did he have cva?

It seems like the Feds could save hundreds of billions without impacting military readiness if they addressed just part of the gouging and fraud. But since the beneficiaries (of the fraud and gouging) are in tight with the government, that will never happen.

Ike tried to warn us. Too bad he wasn't prescient enough to see the future dumbing down of America by the corrupt, greedy reich wing administrations & politicians that followed.

It’s also less than worthless when it comes to defending the constitution.

It's not price gouging if both parties are in on it. It's government corruption to feed the worthless robber barons and military industrial complex

...but no free lunch for school children.

Nobody believed us. Trump is worse that even we thought. I want him dead at any cost.

Trumps USA .. the new Pariah country of the world, if competing against Russia and Israel is just a game!!

Fascists! People will either lay down and die or fight! The only choices left. 😢

Let’s clarify that for a moment. ☝️ It’s a military, industrial complex under the control of an alcoholic weekend cable TV host with a psychological deficit as profound as 🍊🤡.

it is beyond -my Comprehension - why it turned out this way - it because - Politicians - forget the reason why are there either in Congress or in the Senate - that -corruption in contracts is rampant out of control -and without accountability -a Trillion - that's alarming & where's Congress>?

You could have universal health care instead of "wounded warriors". Any oil money is Venezuela's for Venezuelans.

I highly recommend people watch “Iraq for Sale: The War Profiteers.” Halliburton, where Dick Cheney was former CEO, gouged the government in the war for……oil, hmmm, ironic….and jumpstart to Erik Prince’s empire with Blackwater now known as Constellis Holdings LLC.

Ответ для Intolerant Badgers Coalition

Constellis is the main contractor who has had mercenaries in Gaza and also here in US with immigration deportation/detentions. Prince pitched his plan to deport to foreign facilities such as CECOT prior to Trump’s “win” in 2024.

Accountability is strictly for the powerless

🇺🇸🇮🇱 Pentagon lost track of $6 billion in weapons sent to Israel - Pentagon Inspector General Out of $13.4 billion in military aid sent to Israel since October 7, 2023, the Department of Defense properly tracked 44%. The number can be higher because after this they just stopped checking.

Ответ для Abdohassan

Before the Gaza war, tracking was at 69%. After October 7, when weapons shipments accelerated and oversight mattered most, tracking collapsed to 44%. The Pentagon has no idea where $7.5 billion worth of American weapons actually went. 42 weapons deliveries - totaling over 4 million munitions

And I'm getting "well, actually" bullshit on "US spending on health care is the real problem."

Louder!!!

Pulling us into yet another conflict. The contractors are drooling right now. This is just what they paid him for.

“U.S. military spending is set to hit a record $1 trillion.” It is dangerous for the U.S. to be an unrivaled military power, as we now see. The rest of the world should apply economic and travel sanctions to be lifted only if the U.S. limits its military budget to $100 billion (in 2026 dollars).

Amazing how the Trump's people cheer cutting monies to pay for school lunch, SNAP, housing subsidies, alternative infrastructure to bring broadband to rural areas, rural areas without waste treatment and clean water, and food/medical aid to children in Africa, but silence with waste & fraud in DOD.

The Democrats are going to need to understand there has to be a comprehensive clean up of military. These events in Venezuela are unambiguously illegal as were the orders to carry them out yet here we are, the military failed its oath to the constitution and obeyed the president.

Thank you for saying this. The amount funneled to contractors could literally fund universal childcare or wipe out medical debt, but instead we have Lockheed’s profit margins and zero accountability.

Has anyone asked what would happen if even a fraction of that money actually went to housing, healthcare, or education instead? The human cost of this spending isn't just numbers on a spreadsheet.

Cool, so we’re just gonna ignore the fact that $1 trillion could literally lift millions of people out of poverty, but sure, let’s keep writing blank checks for defense contractors. The human cost here is wild.

This is exactly why the American people don’t have Medicare For All. The “we can’t afford it and how we gonna pay for it” is BS!

The echoes of the past should be the screams of today.

Should shrink the war footprint & expand the diplomacy budget. Every dollar spent preventing conflict beats ten cleaning it up. That means fewer regime change fantasies & more boring negotiations even w/ people we hate. Deterrence still matters, but without off ramps, deterrence becomes provocation.

"U.S. military spending is set to hit a record $1 trillion." But U.S. Citizens can't have Food, Health Insurance, Homes etc etc etc

It's a grift. The US Government will "award" billion $ contracts to pvt security services aka Blackwater, to be the overseer.
