I like writing and I like being useful and I like helping people but I already have a 40 hour a week job and none of myself left over when I'm home from the 40 hour a week job so building a portfolio in a skillset I have no formal training in is perhaps not the most realistic endeavor right now

I think I could hack it as a technical writer because I literally already do it for my job. I write up procedures because so much of this shit is totally undocumented. This isn't formally part of my job I just do it because it's necessary. But I don't have "professional" experience or training.
