“Art Of Avatar Fire and Ash” book signing - what a fun event! A huge thank you to the Avatar fans - some who travelled *very* far to attend - for making it out on a random Tuesday night to hear a bunch of art nerds talk. It was really cool getting to meet everyone, wish we had more time! #avatarsky

Did a little chat with team Avatar about the creature design process of "Avatar: Fire and Ash", in anticipation of the upcoming art book release! You can watch the entire conversation here: youtu.be/JRKi9mbBil8?... #avatarsky
"The Art of Avatar Fire and Ash" artbook comes out on July 21st in the US, and evidently is already available in the UK! #avatarsky
The Artbook CollectorA spread of windray concepts from The Art of Avatar: Fire and Ash! “AI is less regulated than a sandwich shop” - MIT professor Want to help with that? There’s a bill in California that would require transparency in the AI datasets, but it needs your help to pass. Please add your name to the support petition here, it’ll take you 2 minutes: tinyurl.com/4uxbp963 1/
There is a bill in California that would allow creators to look under the hood of AI training datasets to see if their work was being used, but it needs your support - please sign this petition, it’ll take you 2 minutes: tinyurl.com/4uxbp963 (video credit hitrecordjoe on IG) 1/
The only way for this AI "competitor" to function is by taking a bunch of work off the internet without consent. A bill in California would force transparency in their dataset. Want to help it pass? Please sign this petition in support, it'll take you 2 minutes: tinyurl.com/4uxbp963 1/
Potentially huge? Google held liable for AI hallucinations in a German court. I.e. if google AI tells you to glue rocks to your pizza, they are responsible. the-decoder.com/landmark-ger...
Black Forest Labs (like Stability AI) likely took a bunch of work off the internet in order to train their AI. A bill in California would force transparency in their dataset. Want to help it pass? Please sign this petition in support, it'll take you 2 minutes: tinyurl.com/4uxbp963 1/
Karla Ortiz1/ This company’s models were trained on web scraped datasets (like LAION) and their founders are ex-Stability AI employees who engage in the same thieving practices that led artists like myself to sue Stability. GenAi companies NEED big names to sanitize their exploitation and crippling PR.
MUST READ! @amnesty.org shining a light on the abuses of AI data scraping. Think we should force the AI corps to be transparent about what they trained off? There's a bill in California that would do just that - please support it by adding your signature to this petition: tinyurl.com/4uxbp963 1/
Dr Matt MahmoudiSo we’ve been cooking up some thoughts on Gen AI at @amnesty.org and I’m ecstatic to finally see it out in the world! Our 🗝️ conclusion: standalone gen AI systems, built on unlawful web scraping, constitute mass invasions of privacy by design & should be prohibited www.amnesty.org/en/latest/ne...
Open AI doesn't want to be transparent about what's in their AI training datasets - this bill would force them. If that sounds good, we REALLY NEED YOUR HELP! Please sign this petition in support of the bill, it'll take you 2 minutes: tinyurl.com/4uxbp963 1/
Thank you @mexopolis.bsky.social for hearing your fans and your community!! ❤️🩹 If you'd like to take some action, a bill in Cali would force AI corps like Amazon to be transparent about what is in the training datasets, but it needs YOUR help! Please sign this petition: tinyurl.com/4uxbp963 1/
"Faster, more efficient" = cutting artists and animators "3rd party video models w/ a proprietary model portfolio" = we won't tell you what data we trained off of (likely stolen) A bill in Cali would force AI transparency, but it needs YOUR help! Please sign this petition tinyurl.com/4uxbp963 1/
Animation MagazineThree AI animated series are heading to Prime Video streaming via Amazon MGM/AWS-backed GenAI Creators' Fund: 'Cupcake & Friends;' 'Love, Diana Music Hunters;' and 'Punky Duck' from Jorge Gutierrez.

@andyparkart.bsky.social has been with the MCU since nearly the beginning, and has contributed countless iconic designs. He's also a super nice guy - any team would be extremely lucky to have him.
Karla OrtizAnother artist Marvel let go today was Visual Development Director @andyparkart.bsky.social ! Which is wild as Andy is a staple! Andy was responsible for the visual direction of the Guardian of the Galaxy movies, the designs of Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, Shang-Chi, latest Thor, and so much more!
A legendary talent.
Karla OrtizHere’s just ONE of the artists Marvel Studios let go today: Wesley Burt, a brilliant veteran, one of the best in the industry. He made the viral Fantastic Four Valentine’s day card! He was also pivotal for the look of many films and shows like for example Loki, Black Panther, Avengers and so on!
One of the best art teams in the world were all laid off yesterday. If you're hiring concept artists, you have your pick of *literally* some of the best artists currently working, who haven't been available in a decade+. I know some of them personally, and would eagerly recommend all of them.
Karla OrtizDevastated to hear the entire Marvel Studios’s Visual Development team has been let go. This was my old home but more importantly, the home of so many incredible artists and peers. Absolutely heartbreaking 😔 Sending all my impacted peers my love and support. Please reach out if you need anything!
“And the end of Sora does not mean there is no demand for AI video generators, but it does mean that the overwhelming use case for AI video generators continues to be what it has always been: people making porn, nonconsensual sexual imagery, disinformation, and low-effort slop at scale.”
404 MediaOpenAI news: 1. Sora is dead. May the memory of its four-month existence as a copyright infringement machine be a blessing. 2. Disney is pulling out of its billion-dollar investment in OpenAI entirely. Turns out when you try to serve AI slop on a product people pay for, no one wants it.
Maybe Open AI decided there was more money to be made in military contracts than trying to make Marvel movies?
