Ryza is a full trilogy (I think it's called the Mystery trilogy?). The other ones are generally in a trilogy format as well. Steam has the games organized in their respective trilogies as bundles, last I saw

Atelier Ryza does not have the day progress unless you go and sleep (which you control when you do that).

So majority of the games give you X number of days to complete something relevant to the main quest or side quests. So say you have 30 days to finish Main Quest 1 but 3 days to finish Side Quest 1. Going outside your atelier to gather materials may take a day or so. Stuff like that

I think there are several excellent series that I'm seeing people talking about this season. For non-sequel seasons, there's "Ghost in the Shell", "Goodbye, Lara", and "Sparks of Tomorrow"! Ghost in the Shell may be abbreviated as GITS by some people.

Generally Atelier Ryza is considered a good starting point. Starting with Ryza, they removed the time limits, so the player doesn't feel pressured and can do things at their own pace.

I think E33's realistic presentation was a factor in having the game compared to FF 16 vs other JRPGs. Add that with the sheer mountain of influence and recognition FF has in the West, and you get this whole discussion amongst the community 😅

I agree that what you said is the sentiment among JRPG fans (especially those in the West). Heck, look at E33. It was compared to Final Fantasy (namely 16) with some calling it the "true" FF16. Not Metaphor, Trails, or Persona. FF. I think this goes back to what you said about presentation

Do you want FF17 to be turn-based because you really like how turn-based FF plays or are you more feeling the void of any turn-based JRPGs at that level of budget and presentation. Asking as someone who'd prefer it turn-based.

Especially since Sandfall didn't provide accessibility options get past having to deal with the dodging/parrying. Fans just recommended you move the difficulty down to easy mode, which...doesn't solve the main problem.
