Aliette de BodardI studied the history of heroism sometime in my (misspent) youth. The Iliad and odyssey were directed at a very specific warrior class who ruled in Greece back then. Much of what they do was acceptable at the time--but their ideas of heroic are those of a basically alien culture (1/?)

What's happening to trans rights in Britain is more chilling than what's happening in the US. In the US there's an ecosystem of zealotry. The people dismantling trans rights openly lie, not just about trans people but about a whole host of things. For them to dismantle human rights feels natural.
