It’s completely regional. In Seattle we start the Wednesday after Labor Day (September 2nd this year).

I wonder if unpredictability would be a problem for bus routes like this. I had to drive my kid to a specialized program across the city everyday for a few weeks, and sometimes getting on I-5 saved us lots of time and sometimes it was a disaster. Of course, you could have bus lanes.

My favorite place to park is Roosevelt Station in the shared BikeLink cage (my bike is too big for the smaller lockers). It looks like some of the other stations have cages as well. (You need to do an ID check with BikeLink before you use it for the first time.)

Obviously there’s no guarantee, but I have a similar bike and have locked it up outside during the day lots of different places in the city with no problem. I have a frame lock with an attached chain.
