it does seem to border on the concept of 'clapter' now and again. "Hey, look at this thing I am stating AUTHORITATIVELY! Everyone look at me!!". It's a flashbang meant to derail the conversation or kill the topic being discussed, nothing more.

There’s a kind of guy on social media who acts like you’re a moron for believing in gradations. You say we’re teetering on fascism, they go “umm we were founded on genocide” You say Musk is having a racist breakdown they go “umm he was always racist” Truthers for the concept of things getting worse.

In my feeble attempt to push back, I will contend that Trump 1 was more stock-and-barrel standard conservative shit with faux-populist rhetoric slapped on the tin; Trump 2 is far, far more clearly fascistic in its aesthetics and policies.

I think it harms Journalism that the message that the media has sent to us over the last several years is that no matter what a person does it’s impossible to credibly be sure that they are a Nazi.

tons of Nazis found jobs on both sides of the Iron Curtain; only the most vocal and publicly repugnant leaders were put on trial and executed. The ones who followed after divorced from this tradition (e.g. in America) stem from the fact that de-Nazification did not go nearly as far as it should've.

We still have the cultural image that actual Nazis were defeated in the 1940's, and the remaining Nazis are either unemployed basement-dwellers or fringe militias in Idaho. There is still a reluctance by media and business leaders to say openly that the world's wealthiest person is a Nazi.
