I think the world is inherently better the more creatives are nurtured and there's more art that can be made. I also believe it's the raison d'être of humanity, to exist at all. I think the purpose of creation is so ingrained in people that when it's denied it feels like a funeral march.

Author Keigo Higashino passed away at 68 from cancer last week. Most people know him in the West as the author of "The Devotion of Suspect X" and "Salvation of a Saint" but he wrote SO many books. He's one of the most prolific mystery authors in Japan. This is a huge shock. He will be missed.

One of my fave fun facts is that, once upon a time, calling something a "black swan" meant it didn't exist. Then, in 1697, Dutch mariners saw black swans in Australia. So now, a "black swan" means "something completely unanticipated, but consequential." But we already have "dark horse" in English!

This is a philosophy that extends beyond games, BTW. You're not gonna be "the next" anything. Stephen King. Dav Pilkey. Steven Spielberg. The world already HAS one of those. They're not interested in obvious imitations.
