A saw a comment on Linkedin from a language learner criticising the quality of Japanese subtitles, because they can hear the exact word and notice inaccurancies. I don't know what case subtitles they talk about, but subtitles are not tools for langauge learning.

I was mostly asking because I like to find new resources for people to learn Japanese. It could be helpful for beginners.

This is really cute! Can I ask, do you teach kanji before you teach people phrases like 二十二才です? Or do you have an option to turn on furigana? It looks like you use a lot of kanji so I'm curious how beginners learn to read them correctly.

Author Keigo Higashino passed away at 68 from cancer last week. Most people know him in the West as the author of "The Devotion of Suspect X" and "Salvation of a Saint" but he wrote SO many books. He's one of the most prolific mystery authors in Japan. This is a huge shock. He will be missed.

Are you also studying the language while using K-ON to practice your listening skills? I think anime is great for listening, but you still want to study vocab, kanji, and grammar.

It's not old, but I hear "Shin chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation" is good for Japanese learners. Fantasy games are tricky because they use a lot of uncommon vocab and grammar, which make them less useful for beginners (unless you want to learn that kind of language.)

You can easily make your own flashcards with paper. Writing letters and words out helps when memorizing the language too. If you want to learn to read manga then you should try to at least learn beginner vocab and grammar. jtalkonline.com/how-to-teach...

A teacher helps a lot, but for studying by yourself I suggest focusing on one or a few grammar a week and writing/speaking sentences and doing practice exercises in a textbook or drill book.

If you have a textbook then you could use example sentences from there. Try to focus on elements you know you're weak on like counters or verb conjugations and you won't be so weak on them.

One exercise you can do for learning Japanese is write out a short phrase in Japanese (based on something you're studying), write the English, cover the Japanese, then practice saying the Japanese until you can say it smoothly without looking. This helps train your speaking, vocabulary, and grammar.
