The last live show I saw, over a decade now, was Blind Guardian. They did the whole of Imaginations from the Other Side and, quite frankly, I don't think anything else would match this. So that's it for me.

I thought King Faraday but now I can't unsee that.

I would also accept Tales from the Twilight World - Somewhere Far Beyond - Imaginations from the Other Side

Yoshi no Zuikara by Satsuki Yoshino I like the concept: a mangaka has to make slice-of-life manga based on his own childhood only to realize he spent all his youth reading manga and not doing the stuff people want to read about in such stories. A bit too cute... But I can see myself reading more.

Astronauts in Trouble: Live from the Moon by Larry Young, Matt Smith and Charlie Adlard. An oddly understated comics, considering it includes a scene of the Mafia firing nuclear rockets at the moon. Would be skippable if it was memorable.

Tale of the Beast by Tadao Tsuge A low-down low-rent (complimentary) crime story. More of a character piece than a mystery, the art is the real star gere as Tsuge charges every page with the right amount of sinister energy.

The Crossgen Experience

Classics Illustrated: Cyrano de Bergerac by Peter David and Kyle Baker. Oh, you want a review? Did you fail to notice the name 'Kyle Baker?!' Kyle Baker is drawing French foos with long swords, long rifles and long... You-know-what. And that's all the fucking 'review' you'll need!

Sure... But there's a difference between 'pretty great' and 'Wildey and Sienkiewicz great'

Jonny Quest #11-12 by William Messner-Leobs et al Bought a couple of Comico Jonny Quest issues on the cheap(ish), mostly for the covers (fold out Wildey and Sienkiewicz). Art inside isn't as good (Joe Staton and Dan Spiegle) but still pretty fun 1980s done-in-one adventure comics.

Also, pretty much none of 'the greats' come off well. Tolstoy in particular is a piece of shit - and Figes never presses that point (in fact, he could've probably pressed it a bit more)

Natasha's Dance by Orlando Figes. A really good non-fiction book, though despite the sub-title it's actually about 'high culture' (from Tolstoy to Eisenstein) rather than 'culture.' The jey to its success is that Figes' doesn't let his love of the culture overwhelm the grim reality that birthed it.
