An import point that most people don’t fully grasp. Generating electricity from renewables like solar and wind eliminates this wasted energy. We can deliver more energy services with vastly lower primary energy consumption.

Even if we have a nuclear war it's almost impossible that we'll wipe out all life. We won't even make humans extinct. That won't be great consolation to the few million humans struggling to survive on a chaotic planet.

To be clear- this is catastrophic for radio astronomy, not just in the UK. If you shut down a facility like this not only do we use access to the facility, dozens (hundreds?) of jobs are gone and with it expertise that never comes back. Please write to your MP if you’re in the UK! 🔭🧪🎢
