In the 1990s, #Norway suffered a dire 70% recidivism rate, but then Norway opted for drastic reform, linking new “correction centres” to local communities, local jobs and family ties. Reoffending plummeted and Norway’s prison population has been drastically reduced.

We tend to exonerate ourselves by selectivity: I don't eat horrible feedlot beef! But the land use and greenhouse gas emissions from the nice-looking, grass-fed model are massively worse. #plantbased #climate & #nature

Acid mine drainage is a common and well-known side effect of mining. The subsequent interaction of these acidic waters with the surrounding environment can lead to chemical reactions that release CO2.

Parents from Belgrave Road, in Colne, #Lancashire, have been closing their road to through-traffic every Wednesday, from 17:00 to 19:00, so that their children can play outside. The idea is part of the national Play Streets scheme, backed by Pendle Council. #Goodnews
