I think this kind of reaction is pretty outsized for a reasonable question—if a big-city police chief is out of town much of the time, including on weekends, holidays, and during the summer when violent incidents are more common, that's a matter of obvious public interest.

Reports are coming out that the 15 yr old the Seattle police arrested was shooting at a 19 yr old that was one of the people killed. Everyone 30 & under has only lived in a US where school shootings are the norm. It’s the guns and the intergenerational trauma from endemic gun violence.

Apparently the dude worked in Madison, WI and also lived in Chicago. Apparently this guy has been a police chief for years in cities and states that he does not live in. Amazing

To help, part of what TPS holders have told me: please call your reps. Tell them you dont want tps protections removed and you want legislation that will ensure families aren't separated, livelihoods and communities aren't destroyed.

So any person calling for "mass deportation" needs to be confronted with the fact that it is simply not physically possible to conduct deportations at that scale without resorting to measures or conditions that legally qualify as genocide.

I don't think people understand how thin the line between "deportation" and "extermination" really is - not just in Europe, but everywhere the topic comes up. Many people feel comfortable with the idea of deportation because it obscures the underlying violence that is necessarily implied.
