For all my ribbing, I do like this version more than the original. The puzzles are more thematically appropriate for their locations, the plot seems to gel better, Stauf's backstory gets fleshed out, the house feels like a place someone actually lived in, lantern mechanic is good, just a good time.

It is extremely bizarre to feel nostalgic for 2019 by way of 2000, but Broken Reality is managing to make me miss both. I'm amazed how easily it feels like it's pivoted from expressly vaporwave meme aesthetics to a sort of 2000-era look without missing a beat.

The 7th Guest Remake is great up until the very end, when all the shit about solving logic puzzles is thrown out and the whole game comes down to praying to RNGesus.
