Do you know what I find bananas? Humans think they’re better than dogs. Dogs, unlike humans, can detect cancer in your breast. They can see ghosts, if you believe in that. They wake you up when the house is on fire … Yet, humans lock them up, forget them, & fuck off. I prefer the company of dogs.

We, Latinos, are not your enemy. We pick your grapes for your wine. We pick your tomatoes for your Sunday gravy. We pick your potatoes for your stew. We pick your lettuce for your salad. We pick your … so on and so forth. We feed you.

Don’t go to a protest without a Sharpie. Write the number of your attorney or mom or whomever on your arm. After you write it, go over it again. Make sure it’s in there because the cops will take everything off your person & conveniently lose all of it. But they can’t take that number off your arm.

“You don’t look Indian…” I’m sorry, my loincloth is at the cleaners.

We’ll give you an Indian name, sure … for a small fee. You may not like the name we give you, but, hey, at least you can brag to your cousins at this year’s Thanksgiving dinner that you got it from a legit Native, right? “Crypto Dick, how’s that turkey coming?”

My mom is Mexica (Mēxihcah). My dad is Oglala Lakota. While the U.S. considers my mom Mexican and my dad Native American, they both have the same brown skin (because they’re both Indigenous). This is why ICE targets Natives — because our skin color is the same as it has been for thousands of years.

And, to this day, they want to touch us — our arms, faces, hair — and they want to fuck us when the drink hits their head, but they still won't give us our land back. Read more of my piece:

Not always. Always is a long time. They always say never is a long time. I always say always is always longer, and I think a lot is too much. A lot is a lot, and probably a lot more than too much. Too much of a lot can be overwhelming, but not always. Understand?

I also despise the 4th of July because fireworks scare dogs, angels on earth, they are. The number of dogs lost — terrorized and traumatized — having run away in fear spikes on the 4th of July. Oh, and troops suffering from PTSD don’t need to be subjected to a barrage of explosions.

Remembering Indigenous peoples' history during America's 250thThe U.S. celebrates its 250th birthday this week. But one thing that’s missing among much of the festivities: the story of this continent's Indigenous peoples.www.wuwm.com

Fuck Columbus, Washington, Jackson, Lincoln. Celebrate all you want. We’re still alive, fuckers. Signed, Us … Every Native American alive today.

The Trail of Tears wasn’t meant to safely remove thousands of peoples from one place and put them safely somewhere else. It was a march of murder and death. The U.S. soldiers killed children and those who could no longer continue to walk. The Trail of Tears is one of many forced removals.

There is literally no reason for a dreamcatcher to be in your car, unless you sleep in your car. Then, have at it.

If Chad is selling you tacos, you’re paying too much. And they suck.

We didn’t build your house on sacred Native American burial grounds. Stop blaming us for your haunted house. Ass.

First, white people banned our ancestral Native American names. Then, they forcefully gave us white names like Smith, Means, Bellecourt, Peltier, etc. Now, they desperately want an Indian name. This is how it goes with them: Hate it. Ban it. Change it — like it, love it, desperately want one. Wtf?

My editor didn’t like the title, ‘But Stuff.’ “Okay, but you really think we’d celebrate 250 years of this fuckery?” “Okay, but you guys want an Indian name *now*, even though your people outlawed ours?” Okay, but stuff. I thought it fit.
